Madonna Just Dropped A Huge Amount Of Money To Buy The Weeknd's Home
Madonna is clearly a fan of buying property. The "Like A Virgin" singer has reportedly owned some seriously lavish properties over the years, and it's no surprise she can splash the cash given her seriously impressive net worth. According to Celebrity Net Worth, the singer is worth a whopping $850 million, meaning she can definitely afford to go all out when it comes to real estate. The site reported that at one point in time the star owned not one, not two, but six homes around the world.
One of Madonna's most lavish properties was her New York City apartment, which Trulia reported she put on the market for $23.5 million in 2012. Also in the Big Apple, she constructed her own huge mansion in Bridgehampton on 58 acres in 2015 (per the New York Post). But it's not just the U.S. where Madonna likes a familiar place to stay. Reuters reported in 2017 that she paid $9 million for an 18th century home in Lisbon, Portugal.
Madonna has since added yet another huge property to her portfolio, this time purchasing a pricey new home from a fellow famous face — The Weeknd. Keep scrolling for all the details on her new pad.
Madonna got a sweet deal from The Weeknd
Madonna is reported to have dropped a huge amount of money on a home owned by The Weeknd (real name Abel Makkonen Tesfaye) on the West Coast. According to the New York Post — in what feels like a scene from Netflix's Selling Sunset — the "Like A Prayer" singer paid $19.3 million for the R&B hitmaker's lavish estate in Hidden Hills, Calif. in a deal settled on April 9, 2021. Though that's no doubt an eye-watering amount for most people, it actually wasn't the full amount The Weeknd originally wanted. He first put it on the market in June 2020 for $25 million. He still made a profit though, as it's reported he purchased it for $18.2 million in 2017.
But despite the hefty price tag, Madonna got a lot of bang for her buck. The main home boasts seven bedrooms and nine and a half bathrooms and comes with a guest home with two further bedrooms. The property will give the star plenty of opportunity to relax with a pool, spa, and a cabana, as well as a theatre and basketball court. Then, when it's time to get back to work, Madonna can use her new home office. The property is on almost three acres, which means she'll hopefully be able to enjoy some privacy away from paparazzi and excited fans.
If Madonna is ever looking for a house guest, we're guessing she won't be short of takers.
