How Will The UK Welcome Prince Harry Back?
Prince Harry is set to return to the UK for the first time in more than a year. After stepping down as senior members of the Royal Family in 2020, Harry and his wife Meghan Markle moved to California, where they currently live with their son, Archie. Things have been tense between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Royal Family, and have only gotten worse since Harry and Meghan sat down with Oprah Winfrey for a tell-all interview that was riddled with damaging claims, one of which involved at least one person in the Royal Family questioning what Archie's skin tone would be before he was born, according to Deadline.
Just two months after that interview aired, Harry's grandfather, Prince Philip, died. The Duke of Edinburgh passed away on April 9, 2021, at the age of 99. According to Entertainment Tonight, Harry is set to attend his grandfather's funeral. The report indicates that Harry will be traveling alone, as Meghan is pregnant with the couple's second child and "did not receive medical clearance from her physician" to travel. With emotions running high, many are wondering how the UK will welcome Harry back. Keep reading to find out what may be in store for the Duke of Sussex.
Prince Harry may be in for a rude awakening
Although Prince Harry is set to head back to his home for a sad occasion, it seems that some people won't be putting their feelings of him aside for the sake of Prince Philip. As an example, Brexit leader Nigel Farage took to Twitter to share his feelings on Harry's return to the UK — it they weren't exactly the nicest. "For a couple that do public emotion as a career, this third person and one sentence statement shows their contempt for this great man and the monarchy. The British public will not welcome Harry and Meghan back, even for the funeral," he tweeted in response to a Sky News report about Harry and Meghan Markle's statement following Philip's passing.
Reactions to Farage's tweet seem to be mixed, however, with some saying that he should give it a rest, and others agreeing with him. The majority of comments, however, appear to support Harry during this trying time. Regardless of how the public feels, this certainly can't be an easy trip for Harry to take for several reasons, and all eyes will be on him as he sees his family face-to-face.
