Lil Wayne Forgot He Wrote This One Iconic Line

Since his teenage years, Lil Wayne has delivered chart-topping hits that remain in rotation several years after their release. Within 2 decades of his career, the "Mrs. Officer" crooner has racked up a plethora of achievements. In addition to being a 5x Grammy-winning artist, the rapper surpassed Elvis Pressley's Billboard record for second-most Top 40 hits on the Hot 100 charts in February 2020. Following the release of his 2020 album, Funeral, the rapper received his fifth No. 1 album on the Billboard charts, per the New York Times.

Considering Mr. Carter's extensive discography, many of his fans may wonder how he remembers every single lyric he's said in his career. Here's the answer: he doesn't. In fact, Wayne surprises himself of what he's penned when rediscovering old lyrics — even if it's from the songs that skyrocketed his career. Keep scrolling to find out which iconic lyric Lil Wayne forgot he wrote.

Lil Wayne doesn't remember the lyrics to one of his biggest songs

It's completely normal for us to forget lyrics to our favorite throwbacks. However, we often don't expect our favorite artists to forget the lyrics to their old songs. Lil Wayne, on the other hand, isn't afraid to admit when he stumbles across an old lyric he doesn't recall writing. A clip from an interview with Fox Sports' Darnell Smith surfaced on Twitter in early April 2021, in which Wayne seems to be impressed by forgotten lyrics he wrote on his "Lollipop (Remix)" that was released in 2008.

"This might be my favorite Wayne line of all time, personally," Smith says to Wayne (via XXL). "This last one is fire. All right, here we go: Safe sex is great sex/ Better wear a latex/ 'Cause you don't want that late text, that 'I think I'm late text.'"

Lil Wayne responds, seemingly shocked by the line, "Oh, f***. I said that? I'm a dog. I don't know when I said it, or why I said it or where I said it. I said it, though." The Louisiana native later confirmed in the interview that he doesn't write his lyrics down. Impressively, the lyrics were off the top of his head. Lil Wayne may be a wordsmith in the studio, but remembering what he's said in the past is not his forte.
