Meghan And Harry's First Netflix Project Revealed
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle embarked on multiple new life endeavors between 2020 and 2021. First, they announced they would be stepping down as working senior members of the British royal family. They then moved to Canada and finally to Los Angeles with baby Archie, where they hunkered down amid the coronavirus pandemic. As their official status as senior royals was questioned, the couple began looking into new ways to support themselves. This turned into signing with the Harry Walker Agency in June 2020, which is the speaking agency that represents the Obamas, the Clintons, and a healthy amount of other high-profile individuals. They will reportedly make up to $1 million per engagement, as noted by Page Six.
A few months later, the Sussexes inked a multi-year deal with Netflix to create documentaries, series, children's programming, and more. "Our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope," the couple said in a statement to The New York Times in September 2020. "As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us."
Having completely stepped down as working members of the royal family in 2021, Meghan and Prince Harry are free to take on any job they please. Now, they are one step closer to sharing their vision with the world through Netflix. Keep scrolling to learn all about their first project with the streaming company.
Meghan and Harry's first project is very close to their heart
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced on April 6, 2021 that their first project with Netflix will be a docuseries surrounding the Invictus Games produced through their company Archewell Productions, per Deadline. Prince Harry played a large role in the launch of the first Invictus Games, which kicked off in 2014 after he was inspired by a visit to the Warrior Games in the United Stated in 2013, per the Invictus Games' official website. The games bring together wounded, injured, or sick service members around the world and have them compete in nine sports.
The Sussexes' documentary is called Heart of Invictus and will follow service members competing in the 2022 games as they prepare for the event. Prince Harry will appear on camera in the documentary and serves as executive producer. "Since the very first Invictus Games back in 2014, we knew that each competitor would contribute in their own exceptional way to a mosaic of resilience, determination, and resolve," Prince Harry said in a statement (via Deadline). "This series will give communities around the world a window into the moving and uplifting stories of these competitors on their path to the Netherlands next year. As Archewell Productions' first series with Netflix, in partnership with the Invictus Games Foundation, I couldn't be more excited for the journey ahead or prouder of the Invictus community for continuously inspiring global healing, human potential, and continued service."
