What We Know About Jeannie Mai's Wedding To Jeezy
The Real host Jeannie Mai has made it official with fiancé Jeezy. The couple tied the knot in small ceremony on March 27, 2021, per Us Weekly. Seems like 2021 is certainly off to a better start for Mai than 2020. Last year, Mai underwent emergency surgery which forced her to exit Dancing With the Stars. Now, Mai has finally gotten her happily ever after.
Mai was previously married to Freddy Harteis for 10 years before divorcing in 2018 amidst cheating allegations. Per The Knot, Mai found her "equal" in rapper Jeezy after meeting on set for The Real in November 2018; the duo didn't confirm their budding relationship until January 2019. According to People, Jeezy popped the question to Mai in March 2020 with a Vietnam-themed proposal in honor of Mai's ancestry and their thwarted vacation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jeannie Mai and Jeezy realized 'life was too short'
According to Vogue, Jeannie Mai always dreamed of a wedding in the South of France or Lake Como. "We were really looking forward to having all of our friends and family there to celebrate," she admitted. "But we had to change all of our wedding plans due to COVID." Mai and Jeezy opted to move up their nuptials after Jeezy's mother "unexpectedly passed," and opted to tie the knot at their Atlanta home.
"We decided to turn our original wedding into a mini-mony, where we exchanged vows in front of our immedate family and a few close friends," Mai explained. The bride wore a custom Galia Lahav atelier gown co-designed by her personal stylist, and the wedding observed traditional Vietnamese ceremonies. "We honored our parents by pouring tea as a gesture to welcome Jeezy into my family, and me into his," Mai continued.
In lieu of wedding presents, Mai and Jeezy "created a charity wedding registry in partnership with The Knot to support Stop AAPI Hate, an advocacy group started last year to support members of the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities," USA Today reported. "What bonded Jeezy and I most is our passion to serve and take care of our communities," Mai explained to The Knot. "We will spend the rest of our lives continuing to stand up against injustice, racism and hate." What a beautiful foundation for their marriage!
