Inside Amanda Bynes' Life Today
It's hard to believe that it has been over a decade since Amanda Bynes last filmed a movie. The She's The Man star's final acting credit was the Emma Stone-lead comedy Easy A, which was released in September 2010. Since retiring from acting because she couldn't get the roles she wanted, Bynes has had several run-ins with the law, including a DUI arrest in 2012, per People, and setting her neighbor's driveway on fire in 2013, which caused her to be hospitalized in a 5150 psychiatric hold, per TMZ. A year after her hospitalization, she revealed that she was diagnosed with bipolar and manic depressive disorder and was placed under conservatorship as she went through treatment, E! News reported.
A few years after seeking treatment, Bynes came clean about her struggles with the media in a 2018 interview. "It definitely isn't fun when people diagnose you with what they think you are," she Paper. "That was always really bothersome to me. If you deny anything and tell them what it actually is, they don't believe you. Truly, for me, [my behavior] was drug-induced, and whenever I got off of [drugs], I was always back to normal."
Bynes has long strived for normality and has taken steps to maintain it, including earning an associate's degree at college, per Page Six. But the degree was just her starting point — keep scrolling to find out what she's doing now.
Amanda Bynes is living a leisurely life out of the spotlight
Following her Paper interview in 2018, Amanda Bynes has stayed out of the public eye to focus on her health and studies. Her lawyer, David A. Esquibias, gave an exclusive to People about Bynes' celebratory mood ahead of her 35th birthday on April 3, 2021. "Amanda is doing great," he told the outlet. "She lives by the beach, attends school and is enjoying meditation and Soul Cycle classes." Esquibias added that Bynes "looks forward to celebrating her birthday with family and friends."
Although Bynes has become a reclusive figure in Hollywood, she does occasionally update her fans on social media. In October 2020, Bynes uploaded a rap song titled "Diamonds" with her fiance Paul Michael on her YouTube account, which was created out of experimentation and boredom, according to E!
Artistic ventures aside, Bynes remains focused on her schooling. Since 2020, the former All That star has been getting another degree at California's Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and with hopes of becoming a businesswoman. "Amanda is very entrepreneurial," Esquibias told People. "She is investigating fragrances. She is now considering perfume in addition to a clothing line."
