Joy-Anna Duggar Opens Up About Her Baby Daughter's Health Concern
Joy-Anna Duggar shared a surprising revelation about her daughter Evelyn's health with fans. In a video posted to YouTube on March 26, 2021, the 19 Kids and Counting alum said that she and her husband Austin Forsyth had a doctor appointment for Evelyn to analyze a bump they noticed on her head.
"She's got like a kind of a weird bump on the back of her head here," she pointed in the video. "And the doctor was concerned enough to where he wanted us to go get it checked out by a craniofacial doctor." She added that the doctor explained the bump could "be a sign that her skull is fusing together too quickly," and if that is the case, "it could cause some brain damage."
Joy-Anna and Austin gave birth to Evelyn in August 2020. "To say my heart is full is an understatement," she wrote in her announcement Instagram post. "She has the best personality, is easy going and loves to be held!"
The concerned parents documented the entire visit to the specialist at Arkansas Children's Hospital with baby Evelyn. Keep reading to learn the result of the examination.
Joy-Anna Duggar shared new details about Evelyn's head bump
Joy-Anna Duggar received some positive notes from the craniofacial doctor at the Arkansas Children's Hospital. As her husband Austin Forsyth sat in the hospital with baby Evelyn and the doctor, Joy-Anna Duggar stayed inside their car and listened in via FaceTime. In the video, the doctor says she can "see all the suture lines around the skull" and that "everything looks good there as far as continued growth."
Although there were "no apparent issues" with Evelyn's skull, the doctor suggested that the relieved parents keep an eye on the bump. "As she continues to grow and if that does become more prominent over the next year or two years, we kind of just wanna keep in touch," she said, noting that a new appointment could be made to get the bump checked out.
In the description for the 15-minute video, Joy-Anna revealed why she and Austin took a moment to discuss her baby daughter's health issue. "We haven't talked about Evelyn's cranial concerns until now because we really didn't know what to expect. We finally got an appointment at the Arkansas Children's Hospital with the Cranial/Facial Doctor and had a scan done to make sure her skull was growing correctly," she explained. "We are SO SO thankful that everything looks okay and that she doesn't need any further appointments!" She added that her family is "praying [Eveyln's skull] continues to grow normally."
