90 Day Fiance: Why Andrew's Texts Are Causing A Stir
The following article contains mentions of emotional abuse.
90 Day Fiance is an expert study in reality TV cringe. From couples butting heads over culture clashes and family arguments, to fiances getting cold feet ahead of their wedding day, the hit TLC franchise captures all the drama during the K-1 visa process. So when a couple completely calls it quits before even being in the same country together, it's bound to cause a stir amongst viewers.
Divisive stars Amira Lollysa and Andrew Kenton spent most of Season 8 trying to reunite amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Andrew urged Amira to join him in Mexico to quarantine for two weeks before entering the U.S.; the plan failed, and Amira was detained for days before being sent back to her home country of France, per Cheat Sheet. Meanwhile, Andrew completed his beachfront resort vacation, much to fans' disgust. The Roseville, Calif. native also failed to empathize with his traumatized fiancee, according to Screen Rant.
While Amira begged Andrew to let her K-1 visa expire and reapply after the quarantine, Andrew allegedly pressured Amira to fly to Serbia to try entering America again. After 14 days alone in a hotel room, Amira opted to return to France — and break up with Andrew. Why? His text messages prompted her to have a panic attack. "I was so proud to call Andrew my future husband. And now it's over," Amira stated on the March 21, 2021 episode of the show, per Entertainment Tonight.
So why did Andrew's texts end their relationship? Keep scrolling to find out.
Andrew Kenton relentlessly insulted Amira Lollysa over text
Fans are applauding Amira Lollysa for leaving Andrew Kenton. In a disturbing turn of events, daycare worker Andrew relentlessly messaged Amira following their argument over whether or not to have children. As reported by TV Insider, the March 21, 2021 episode of 90 Day Fiance showed Amira trying to calm Andrew down by repeatedly saying she loved him — but Andrew only sent her a ticket back to Paris instead.
"You have two tickets, two choices," Andrew reportedly texted her. "You can choose to fly here or there. Do what you want. I don't care... The children at the daycare are far better team players." After more text messages from Andrew, including countdowns for her to make a decision, Amira opted to fly back to France.
Fans were quick to defend Amira. In a trending Reddit thread, viewers called out Andrew's two-sided persona. "He's been serving controlling and abusive since he first appeared on the show. Even the 'nice' version of himself he plays onscreen is off-putting because you can feel the anger simmering underneath," one user wrote.
"I got immediate...manipulative, gaslighting, abusive, narcissist vibes from him," another fan commented. Other Redditors hoped that Amira received the support she needed following her relationship with Andrew.
Amira tweeted using the hashtag #ToxicRelationshipSurvivor and shared that Andrew and his mother are still cyberbullying her even post-breakup. Yet thankfully it seems Amira has moved on in her love life, and as fans say, good riddance to Andrew.
