Who Meghan And Harry Just Hired To Run Their Production Company
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are moving full-steam ahead with the production aspect of their company Archewell. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex filed a trademark application back on March 10, 2020, according to Harper's Bazaar, just ahead of their big announcement: They had started their very own non-profit organization. At the time, Meghan and Harry shared the inspiration behind the name, which is a nod to their son, Archie — or, rather, it's how his name came to be. "Before [Harry and Meghan's website] SussexRoyal, came the idea of 'Arche' — the Greek word meaning 'source of action.' We connected to this concept for the charitable organization we hoped to build one day, and it became the inspiration for our son's name," the Duke and Duchess shared in a statement, per the outlet.
Archewell is dedicated to helping others. "Our core purpose is to uplift and unite communities — local and global, online and offline — one act of compassion at a time," the foundation's description its website reads, in part. Now that Archewell has been around for about a year, Meghan and Harry are ready to take it to new heights — and that means they've needed to shift things around and hire some new people to take on exciting roles within the organization. You might recognize this new name at Archewell Productions
On Monday, March 22, 2021, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's office confirmed that Catherine St-Laurent, the director of the Archewell foundation, moved to a senior advisory role, according to People. In addition, it has been confirmed that the company has hired producer Ben Browning as its head of content for Archewell Productions and for Archewell Audio. If his name sounds familiar, it may be because he was a producer on Promising Young Woman, which is currently nominated for a 2021 Academy Award for Best Picture. According to his IMDb page, Browning has also worked on several movies, such as The Big Sick, as well as television series, like I Know This Much Is True, over the course of his career.
And although he has quite a busy schedule with two films in post-production, one currently filming, and another lined up after that, Browning is super excited about joining forces with Harry and Meghan. "From the moment they shared their vision for Archewell as a global production company that will spotlight diverse voices and share uplifting stories, I knew I wanted to help with this unique opportunity. It's a thrilling company to be starting," Browning said in a statement (via People).
