Why Anthony Mackie's Kids 'Couldn't Care Less' That He's An Avenger
Anthony Mackie has stunning film credits. He was in Million Dollar Baby, in 2009's Notorious as rapper Tupac Shakur, and The Hurt Locker where he portrayed Sergeant JT Sanborn, among many other notable roles as listed on his IMDb page.
With all of these impressive credits, Mackie hit a particular Hollywood jetstream when he landed the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In 2014, he played Sam Wilson/Falcon in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Mackie didn't just land Marvel, he stayed there. He's since been in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man (same year), Captain America: Civil War from 2016, 2018's Avengers: Infinity War, and 2019's Avengers: Endgame.
That's not even the end of it. Mackie landed Disney+ in the series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, with its first episode premiering on March 19, 2021. Thanks to all of this, Mackie has an impressive net worth. Not only that, but he earned a very worthy place on the list of Marvel stars who were secretly amazing to their fans.
With all of this in his incredible past, Anthony Mackie hilariously shared that his kids aren't quite as impressed by his Marvel fame.
Anthony Mackie's kids aren't into him as an actor
While Anthony Mackie impresses everybody else, his four sons aren't as mesmerized. "They're pretty much really not into me as an actor at all," Mackie told People of his kids on March 18, 2021. "It's shockingly funny how much they couldn't care less about me being in movies."
Instead of being impressed by their dad's Avenger's career, Mackie said his sons are more impressed by streamers on Twitch. "I can't remember his name, but there's this British dude who sits online and plays Minecraft and all these kids watch him. This dude is like Michael Jackson in my house, to my boys," Mackie said.
Mackie shares his sons with his ex-wife, Sheletta Chapital. She and Mackie divorced quietly in 2017, according to TMZ, and sources close to the outlet said that their split was amicable and that they share joint custody.
Mackie discussed with People his thoughts on his Marvel character, Sam Wilson/The Falcon. "I love the fact that he's a normal guy. He has no superpowers, he has no serums and all this stuff. He's just a regular guy who wants to do the right thing," Mackie explained. "When we first meet him, he's a counselor for soldiers. Then he's picked up by Captain America to be an Avenger. And it's just like, he's on this whirlwind adventure. And the adventure just grows more and more. The discovery of it is something I really enjoy."
