Who Is Below Deck Sailing Yacht's Chief Stew, Daisy Kelliher?
In 2021, Below Deck Sailing Yacht embarked on the rough waters of its sophomore season. The popular Bravo series is a spinoff of both Below Deck and Below Deck Mediterranean, which all follow the lives of yachties, or the staff that works aboard luxury yachts. Like most shows on the network, it's packed with drama, romance, questionable guests (cough, cough, Dolores), and we're here for it. Captain Glenn is the only member who is back for Season 2, and fans of the show were introduced to a new cast of yachties in the second go-around.
Executive producer Jill Goslicky, explained to The Daily Dish the reason why cast members generally don't return for another season "has to do with what is going on in that person's life at the time." She added, "Do they have compelling reasons for their story to continue on in the show? You've seen some instances where cast members take a season off and then come back, for instance. That's because circumstances are suddenly right for them to make a return."
The new cast includes chef Natasha De Bourg, Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher, Chief Engineer Colin Macrae, First Mate Gary King, Second Stewardess Dani Soares, Third Stewardess Alli Dore, and Deckhands Sydney Zaruba and Jean-Luc Cerza Lanaux.
Kelliher most certainly has her work cut out for her, living up to the names of some of her famous predecessors, Hannah Ferrier and Kate Chastain. Keep scrolling to find out a little more about the new chief stew.
Daisy Kelliher is a yachting pro
She may be new to the show, but Daisy Kelliher is no stranger to the wanderlust lifestyle of a yachtie. Kelliher shared a bit about herself in an interview with Distractify in March 2021, giving fans a glimpse into her exciting life. The Dublin, Ireland native has been sailing since 2012, making her an expert in the profession. She comes from a line of Olympic royalty as her grandfather was an Olympic sailor in the '60s. "We come from a strong sailing background," she shared, adding, "I grew up sailing on dinghy boats, and we went for holidays on small sailboats." Kelliher says that her father gave her the nudge to get into the industry, because he believed that it would be something that she would come to love. "Dads are always right," Kelliher noted.
With plenty of experience under her belt, Kelliher most certainly knows the "do's" and "don'ts" in the industry, and lazy workers are one of the things that irk her the most. "A lack of initiative definitely annoys me," the 33-year-old dished. "I don't want to have to write a list for every single thing. If you see something that needs to be done, do it... If you can see that something is dirty, I shouldn't have to tell you."
Kelliher also shared that the combination of working crazy hours and being together so much is another point of frustration, but hey, those are the moments that make for the best TV!
