How Jennifer Lopez And Alex Rodriguez's Kids Are Reportedly Keeping Them Together
Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez shocked the world on March 12, 2021 when multiple reports surfaced claiming the couple had called it quits on their two-year engagement. However, one day later, the duo said they were staying together, but were experiencing a rough patch in their relationship.
In a joint statement obtained by People, Lopez and Rodriguez revealed that they were "working through some things," while a source claimed they "never officially broke up," but were having a difficult time, mainly because of distance. "She's working in the Dominican Republic and he's in Miami so it's tough seeing each other especially with quarantining and COVID, but they want to try to stay together," the insider said.
Since the split reports hit the headlines, the two have shown that they're working to keep their relationship going, with Daily Mail reporting that A-Rod flew to the Dominican Republic on March 15, 2021, where he made it clear he was with JLo. He shared a photo from a balcony to his Instagram Story and wrote, "Happy Monday. New week. New day. Onward. Upward." while tagging Lopez in the upload. The star is currently on location shooting the movie Shotgun Wedding.
It's not clear if Rodriguez and Lopez's children joined the couple in the tropical destination, though it's been revealed that their brood supposedly played a big part in them trying to work things out. Keep reading to find out why.
JLo and A-Rod's kids were apparently 'devastated' by the breakup news
According to TMZ, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez's kids were apparently "blindsided" by their apparent brief split on March 12, 2021, and seeing them so upset was one of the big reasons JLo and A-Rod decided to stay together. The site reported that the couple didn't expect the news to come out, so they couldn't prepare their children, with the source claiming the kids were left "devastated" by the possibility of the two breaking up. "There were many tears," an insider said. Notably, Lopez shared a snap to Instagram Story that showed her daughter Emme visibly upset a few hours before the news broke.
Lopez is mom to 13-year-old twins, Emme and Max, with ex-husband Marc Anthony, while Rodriguez shares 16-year-old Natasha and 12-year-old Ella with his ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis. The children grew very close over the almost four years Lopez and Rodriguez have been dating, and their reaction reportedly "weighed heavily in the long conversation" the two had about their relationship the evening the news became public.
The couple both made it very clear how close their blended family became in social media uploads and interviews, and JLo gushed over their strong bond on Today in May 2020. "The kids really loved each other from the beginning they really just got along," she said. "We all love each other. We get along Alex and I have been together for over three years. We are a family."
