Are Jennifer Lopez And Ben Affleck Still Friends?
Jennifer Lopez is a worldwide superstar who has accomplished more in her career than many could only dream of doing. She has enjoyed a wildly successful Golden Globe-nominated film career and Grammy-nominated music career, and has been idolized as someone who "paved the way" for Latinas in the entertainment industry, according to The Oprah Magazine.
While the "On the Floor" singer is an iconic and successful entertainer, her love life hasn't always been the same. Lopez has been married three times and engaged two other times, per Women's Health. Her relationship status shockingly made headlines on March 12, 2021 when it was reported that she and boyfriend of four years Alex Rodriguez broke up after postponing their wedding twice due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The alleged relationship change brings back memories of her past romance with Ben Affleck. The two began dating after they filmed Gigli together in 2002 and became engaged within a year. However, they went their separate ways before walking down the aisle and quickly found new relationships. While many speculate that the recent cheating rumors got between Lopez and Rodriguez, there is no scandal known between the Gigli costars. So, does that mean Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck might still be friends?
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are on good terms
Ben Affleck spoke about his ex fiancé Jennifer Lopez almost two decades after they broke up in a 2020 interview with The New York Times and confirmed that the pair stay in touch. Although the quotes about Lopez were omitted from the final piece, the writer took to Twitter to share some of Affleck's sweet words about Lopez. "She's the real thing. I keep in touch periodically with her and have a lot of respect for her," he gushed. "How awesome is it that she had her biggest hit movie at 50? That's f*****g baller," he said, referring to her Golden Globe-nominated role in Hustlers.
Lopez hasn't been tight-lipped about their relationship, either. In a 2016 interview with E!, she reflected on the romance and made it clear that there was no bad blood between them. "I think different time different thing, who knows what could've happened, but there was a genuine love there," she said. Lopez also got sentimental about the relationship in 2015 in an interview with Huffpost Live (via E!) and said she felt "no regrets" about it. "I just feel like everything is part of your story and your journey and is meant to be and helps you grow if you're willing to look at it, and I'm willing to look," she said.
While their romance didn't have its fairytale ending, it's sweet to see the ex lovers are still supporting one another.
