The Sweet Moment From Meghan And Harry's Oprah Interview You May Have Missed
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's highly-anticipated interview with Oprah Winfrey was rife with tears, shocking reveals, and even comparisons to The Little Mermaid. Yet there was an endearing moment featuring none other than their charismatic toddler, Archie.
Before sitting down to discuss the royal family, Oprah played a pre-recorded clip featuring the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's new nine-bedroom Montecito estate. According to The New York Post, the $14.65 million home includes a whopping 18,000-square-foot living space complete with a wine cellar, spa, billiards room, and library. But the outdoor space is maybe even more impressive: the property extends over five acres, and "boasts rose gardens, century-old olive trees, an outdoor pizza oven, pool, playground, vegetable garden, tennis court, two-bedroom guest house, a tea house and a children's house."
While the interview reportedly took place "at a friend's house," per the Daily Mail, rumors swirled that the lavish backyard shown actually belongs to Oprah's best friend, CBS This Morning host Gayle King. So what sweet moment from the interview included a special outdoor nod to tot Archie? Keep scrolling to find out!
Baby Archie has his own chicken coop
It seems Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have quickly acclimated to their Californian lifestyle! Both former senior royals invited Oprah Winfrey to sit in their chicken coop before the formal interview. The coop's name? "Archie's Chick Inn — Established 2021," according to a sign over the door, as reported by People. The chickens were "rescued from a factory farm," per the Daily Mail.
The pecking order was certainly discussed during the tell-all interview, but for Meghan and Harry, their focus is on raising Archie with love and respect for the outdoors. A later black-and-white clip showed the family of three playing at a California beach. "To have outdoor space where I can go for walks with Archie and we go for walks as a family and with the dogs... You know, we go on hikes or go down to the beach, which is so close," Harry said to Oprah about the importance of living in Montecito. "The highlight for me is sticking [Archie] on the back of the bicycle in his little baby seat and taking him on bike rides is something which I never was able to do when I was young... It's been really fulfilling to get back to basics."
As the couple prepare for baby No. 2 — a daughter, who will arrive in summer 2021 — it's clear their roost is growing strong in the U.S.
