Who Are Eddie Murphy's Famous Exes?
Eddie Murphy has flourished for more than four decades in Hollywood and isn't slowing down anytime soon. The comedian got his big break when he joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in 1980, and since then, he has enjoyed success in both film and TV. Some of Murphy's most notable works include Harlem Nights, The Nutty Professor, Dreamgirls, Daddy Day Care, The Haunted Mansion, and the Shrek franchise. Murphy has seamlessly become a staple in the comedy world, and after a 40-year-career, he's only getting better and better.
Of course, his career isn't the only area of Murphy's life in which he's had success. The actor has enjoyed his fair share of romances throughout the years — from a quiet relationship with Whitney Houston to his current one with Paige Butcher, Murphy has had several wives and girlfriends over the years. Let's take a look back at some of the comedian's most famous romances!
Eddie Murphy had some famous girlfriends in the '80s
Ever since Eddie Murphy skyrocketed to fame on Saturday Night Live in 1980, he's also had a number or gorgeous celebrities by his side. One of his earliest romances was with none other than Whitney Houston, and the two apparently dated quietly during the mid-'80s, per People. According to the same publication, in 1988, Murphy would go on to meet his future wife, Nicole Mitchell (who he is pictured with above in 2003), but it would still be a few years before the two would marry.
In the meantime, Murphy would go on to date Paulette McNeely, and together, the couple would welcome the first of Murphy's children, a son named Eric in 1989. That same year, Murphy would also welcome a child with Mitchell, a daughter named Bria. The following year, Murphy got together with Tamara Hood, and their son Christian was born that same year.
By 1993, it seems that the comedian was ready to settle down. He and Mitchell married, and between then and 2002, the couple would have four more children together: Myles, Shayne, Zola, and Bella Murphy. After more than 10 years of marriage, however, Murphy and Mitchell ultimately went their separate ways, announcing their divorce in a statement via People.
The comedian is ready to settle down once again
By 2006, Eddie Murphy was single and ready to mingle — and that he did with former Spice Girl Mel B. Shortly into their fling, Mel B became pregnant, though Murphy initially denied paternity of the child, according to The Sun. The baby girl, Angel, was born in 2007, and that same year, Mel's representative confirmed that Murphy was indeed the father.
Meanwhile, in 2008, Murphy married Tracey Edmonds in a "spiritual" ceremony, according to Access Hollywood, but the duo split just weeks later. Though rumors swirled that Murphy was dating musician Toni Braxton, he ultimately ended up with model Paige Butcher (pictured here in 2020) in 2012. The two have been together since then, and they are now engaged and have two children together, Izzy and Max (via Today).
Murphy has definitely had his fair share of famous girlfriends and relationships, though with his nearly 10-year relationship and now engagement to Butcher going strong, it looks like the Shrek actor is finally ready to settle down and enjoy married life once again!
