The Truth About Bitsie Tulloch's Husband
While Elizabeth "Bitsie" Tulloch first rose to stardom in her role as Juliette Silverton/Eve on the NBC television series Grimm, the actor has since earned a new fanbase as Lois Lane on The CW's Supergirl. As a member of the so-called Arrowverse, Tulloch will soon take her role as Lane to new heights when she joins Superman & Lois, which premieres on Feb. 23, 2021. Yet, while fans of the DC comics are surely familiar with Lane's relationship with the titular Superman, few might know that Tulloch has been married to her former Grimm co-star David Giuntoli, who played Detective Nick Burkhart on the show, since 2017.
Tulloch and Giuntoli's Grimm characters had a rocky relationship, but their real-life relationship has been much smoother. The couple first met while filming Caroline and Jackie. However, they did not start dating until 2014 when co-starring in Grimm. The Portland-based show wrapped up in 2017, and in an interview with OregonLive, Giuntoli talked about his co-stars, including his wife.
"They're all my family, they're still my best friends. I married one of them, for God's sake," he said. When recalling their time on the show, Giuntoli joked and said his wife was his second-favorite souvenir from the show. "I always say she's my second-favorite souvenir, other than Nick's Land Cruiser," he said. (Giuntoli bought the vehicle that Nick drove in the show.)
To celebrate their wedding, Giuntoli took to Instagram and shared photos of the event in Montana along with a sweet, honest message about the future. "I married her. I air-guitared her. I terrified her. I love you @bitsietulloch," he wrote. "It's gonna be a wild ride."
David Giuntoli always followed his heart
David Giuntoli studied international business and finance at Indiana University Bloomington and graduated in 2002 with a bachelor's degree. As cinematic as it sounds, he followed his heart when he realized his spark for business and finance could not compare to his burning passion for acting, so he began taking a few lessons from his high school theater teacher. It was in 2003 when he was discovered by MTV talent scouts and was cast in a reality series Road Rules (via TVOvermind).
When he landed his breakout role on Grimm, his chance to continue expanding the desires of his heart were met, too. On top of acting, he also got to direct the third episode in Season 6. In January 2017, he told Access Hollywood he had "the best time of my life" during that experience.
"I was sincerely most nervous about talking to them about their notes and things like that because, you know, that's kind of a code. It's a very quick road to becoming hated to tell another actor what to do, but all of them are just like, 'Give us notes. Bring it, bring it.' ... And it was the best, man," Giuntoli said. "It was the best time of my life and my heart was just warmed by how embraced I was."
Leading up to Grimm, Giuntoli nearly landed the role of Superman when he auditioned for Man of Steel, but the role ultimately went to Henry Cavill. Now he can be found starring as Eddie Saville on the ABC drama A Million Little Things. However, it seems that to Bitsie Tullouch, who plays Lois Lane in the show Superman & Lois, still found her superman, on-screen and off.
