Prince Harry And Meghan Just Made Another Big Decision About Their Roles In The Royal Family
In January 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced they were stepping down as senior members of the royal family. The couple's reason for the drastic move included strain from the media spotlight, most notably that of the British tabloids' continual commentary on the Duchess' relationship with her father. In the so-called "Megxit" announcement on Instagram, the couple claimed to have made the decision "after many months of reflection and internal discussions." They also said they would "step back as 'senior' members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen."
At the time, Harry and Meghan planned to review their position a year later — and now the decision has been made: They will officially not be returning as working members of the royal family. This marks the end of an era, but the start of a new chapter, as Harry and Meghan also revealed they are expecting their second child.
