Inside Brooklyn Beckham And Nicola Peltz's Whirlwind Relationship
By the time he was 21, David and Victoria Beckham's oldest son had already racked up a long list of high-profile relationships — and splits. Brooklyn Beckham has dated actor Chloe Grace Moretz, had a brief fling with Instagram star Lexy Panterra, and split with "Selfish" singer Madison Beer after she decided she didn't want to do the long distance thing. His not-so-successful love life took a turn in 2019, however, when the aspiring photographer got engaged to actor Nicola Peltz whom you might recognize from movies like Transformers: Age of Extinction or her stint on A&E's Bates Motel.
The young couple embarked on a whirlwind romance that has seen them hit numerous major relationship milestones in a very short period of time. It's clear they are absolutely smitten, as they regularly gush about one another on Instagram, including when Nicola commented on Brooklyn's birthday tribute to her, "I'm so lucky you're my other half. I more than love you." Or when Brooklyn vowed, "Can't imagine a life without you baby. You make me feel so special and make me laugh all the time," adding, "I will always take care of you and will always have your back." And they're showing no sign of slowing down. Here's your inside look at Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz's whirlwind relationship.
It wasn't love at first sight for Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz
Sometimes the timing just isn't right for a relationship when you first meet someone, but that doesn't mean things can't change. Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz are proof of just that. Before embarking on a whirlwind romance in November 2019, they met in 2016 and nothing came of it. It was during a joint Q&A session on Instagram in April 2020 that the couple admitted (via The Sun) that they had actually met at Coachella three years previously, but it wasn't until they bumped into each other again at a party in 2019 that they "fell in love." Things moved quickly after that as Beckham decided to move into Peltz's New York apartment in February 2020 to isolate with her as the pandemic began.
As one source told The Sun, it was "a huge move for Brooklyn," especially since they had only been dating for a few months, "but he feels strongly that it's the right one." The insider added that they were "both excited to take their relationship to the next level by sharing the same home" and underscored the fact that "Nicola has been a big hit with the entire Beckham family [...] so they completely support him in this move — though they will miss him a lot."
Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham got engaged after less than a year of dating
In July 2020, after just nine months of dating, Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz got engaged! Taking to Instagram on July 11, 2020, Beckham revealed that he popped the question to the Bates Motel star while visiting his family in the Cotswolds. "Two weeks ago I asked my soulmate to marry me and she said yes," he wrote, gushing, "I am the luckiest man in the world. I promise to be the best husband and the best daddy one day. I love you baby." Peltz also shared the happy news on Instagram, writing, "You've made me the luckiest girl in the world. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life by your side," she enthused, adding, "Your love is the most precious gift. I love you so, so much baby..."
While the engagement may seem fast to some, the Beckhams are all for it. According to one source who spoke with The Mirror, "David and Victoria have very much given this relationship their blessing. It's a very exciting time for the whole family and after a few previous rocky relationships, they think Brooklyn has landed on his feet," the insider claimed. Indeed, Victoria reposted her son's engagement photo to Instagram and offered up her stamp of approval on behalf of the entire family, writing, "The MOST exciting news!! We could not be happier ... Wishing you so much love and a lifetime of happiness."
Brooklyn Beckham can't stop getting Nicola Peltz tattoos
Brooklyn Beckham loves tattoos and since he began dating Nicola Peltz, a lot of his new ink has been a tribute to her. By far the biggest was revealed in October 2020 when Beckham took to Instagram to help promote mom Victoria's new Posh Lipstick collection and showed off a huge pair of eyes tattooed on the back of his neck. The post immediately had commenters speculating that they were Nicola's peepers. Celebrity tattoo artist Dr. Woo appeared to confirm they were by posting a snap of the tattoo to his Instagram, captioning it "Eyes see love" and tagging Peltz.
That November, The Sun reported that Beckham added his fiancee's name to the right side of his neck (just days after she got his name tattooed on her mid-back), and, as Daily Mail notes, he also has "My life, my love, my truth, my breath, my reason, my beauty, my precious" tattooed on his right forearm. Jump to January 2021 and Beckham built on the eye tattoo by inking a love letter from Peltz right below it. "My forever boy, read this anytime you feel anxious," it begins. "I want you to know how deeply loved you are. You have the kindest heart I've ever met and I hope I never go a day without your love. I think you are so incredible. Just know we can get through it all together if you breathe slow and trust. I love you beyond. Love always, your future wifey."
Brooklyn Beckham honored Nicola Peltz's late grandmother with a tattoo
Proving that he has no plans to stop getting tattoos inspired by his wife-to-be, Brooklyn Beckham decided to celebrate Nicola Peltz's 26th birthday by gifting her a tattoo... on his body... in honor of her grandmother. Taking to Instagram on Jan. 12, 2021 (just a few days after her actual birthday), Peltz revealed that her beau had gotten her late grandma's name — Gina — tattooed in small script near his elbow. Posting a snap of the new ink in an Instagram Story, she gushed (via People) that it was the "best birthday gift."
Peltz was incredibly close to her grandmother, who, according to Daily Mail, passed away the night before the actress' 25th birthday. In October 2020, Peltz celebrated her grandma's would-be birthday by sharing photos of them together on Instagram and showed off what a special bond they had, writing, "Happy birthday to my angel in heaven. I can't even put into words how much I miss you being on earth. I wish so badly you could come back to visit me and see me get married," she mused. "I think about you everyday. I love you with all of my heart my Gina."
Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz love sharing steamy selfies
Brooklyn Beckham may be an aspiring photographer, but it seems his fiance also has a penchant for photography. Both have shared plenty of snaps of each other on Instagram, but the fact that many are shot on a real camera isn't the only shocker. Rather, it's the photos' steaminess that has people talking. It all started when Nicola Peltz set the precedent by going Instagram official with Beckham in January 2020 via an Instagram snap showing her in a lacy bra next to her shirtless beau. The latter then responded with a black and white bathroom selfie in which he's embracing Peltz while they wear nothing but towels. And they've continued to push the limit.
In April 2020, Beckahm shared a mirror selfie with an apparently topless Peltz while on their one-year anniversary in October 2020, he uploaded photos of them kissing in a bathtub (above) and wrote, "I'm the luckiest person to have you by my side x I can not wait to grow old with you and start a family with you. Love you so much." While some appreciated the photo — "I love this! Beautiful! Romantic! You are a truly inspiring couple!" wrote one fan — others weren't impressed. "So cringe" wrote a follower while another added, "Young love is so embarrassing once you grow up." Yet another asked, "uuuuurrrrggggghhhhhh you do know people loo[k] at this?" Despite criticism, the steamy snaps and bathroom selfies have yet to cease.
Travel restrictions have made things tricky for Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz
With Brooklyn Beckham's family in the U.K. and Nicola Peltz's in the U.S., the young couple's relationship has always involved travel and the pandemic (and its many travel restrictions) has complicated things. In March 2020, Victoria Beckham revealed via Instagram Story (per People) that her eldest was quarantining with Nicola, telling fans, "We are all missing @brooklynbeckham so much as he remains on lockdown in the US." Hello! later confirmed that while the Beckhams hunkered down in the Cotswolds, Brooklyn moved into Nicola's New York apartment. According to People, the couple then "spent the majority of the summer with Brooklyn's family in Europe" before returning to the States so Nicola could be with her family. This time, they moved into the Peltz family home in Palm Beach, Fla.
Come Christmas 2020, Brooklyn and Nicola celebrated apart as he returned to England, per People. But while there was an ocean between them, FaceTime brought them together. In December, Nicola shared a screenshot of a 12-hour call with "Brooklyn my baby" on her Instagram Story and wrote (via The Mirror), "We fall asleep on the phone together every single night." The fiances were reunited shortly after, when the Beckham family got on a private plane on Christmas Day and flew to Florida, per The Sun. There, they rang in the new year with the Peltzes and "the two families spent some lovely quality time together," according to one insider.
Brooklyn Beckham's future in-laws are billionaires
David and Victoria Beckham may share a combined net worth of $450 million, but that impressive sum is easily overshadowed by Brooklyn Beckham's in-laws. According to Forbes, Nicola Peltz's dad, Nelson Peltz, has a whopping net worth of $1.7 billion! These days, he runs Trian Fund Management, which he founded, but according to The Sun, he cut his business chops working for his family's wholesale food distribution business, which he built into a multi-million dollar brand alongside his brother. CNN notes he's also "the non-executive chairman of the Wendy's Company."
On the personal front, Nelson has ten kids, eight with Nicola's mom, Claudia, whom he married in 1985 after two unsuccessful marriages. The billionaire and his wife (who was once a model) live in a 27-bedroom mansion in Bedford, N.Y., which, according to The Sun, features its own "ice hockey rink and flock of albino peacocks." The couple also has an impressive estate in Palm Beach, Fla., which, as Biz Journals reports, is valued at $94.9 million and includes a beach house (47,851 square feet) and second house across the street (18,433 square feet). In February 2020, Nelson, a staunch supporter of then-President Trump, hosted what CNN dubbed the "most expensive fundraiser of [Trump's] presidency" at said home, where about 40 guests were charged $580,600 each, raising over $10 million for Trump's reelection campaign.
