The Real Reason Meghan Markle Won't Travel To The UK
Almost everyone had to cancel or postpone events in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Even members of the royal family had to scale back their public engagements. However, they appear to be optimistic about 2021's plans, moving forward as scheduled. Queen Elizabeth II will turn 95 years old in April 2021 and she observes her birthday again with an "official" birthday in June every year, according to the royal family's official website. Prince Philip will also celebrate his 100th birthday in June 2021, according to Town & Country. June is also a big month because of Trooping of the Colour, which marks the country's birthday, per the royal family's official website. Then, in July 2021, a statue of Princess Diana will be unveiled at Kensington Palace, which has been confirmed by BBC.
With so many major events coming up, it's hard not to wonder if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will reunite with the family. There is so much speculation about possible rifts between the couple and the royals since they announced their planned exit from their roles as senior royals in January 2020. There's one expert who says Meghan won't show: Omid Scobie, who wrote the book Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family, per Daily Mail.
It does not seem like anything is 100 percent set in stone, but it's going to be a big story no matter what. But what has Scobie convinced that Meghan won't be headed to the UK anytime soon?
Meghan Markle is prioritizing motherhood
Per Daily Mail, Omid Scobie claims that Meghan Markle will not accompany Prince Harry to the United Kingdom because she "doesn't want to be away from [their son] Archie." Additionally, given the coronavirus pandemic, Meghan apparently feels that it would be easier for the Duke to do the trip solo." Scobie told Ok! Magazine, "Meghan wouldn't want to be away from Archie and it would be very tricky to factor a small child into their travels with all the restrictions that could potentially be in place."
However, she and Archie might take part in a family reunion via Zoom since it has been reported that "the Queen has been enjoying those throughout lockdown." In addition to the video chat, Scobie shared that he thinks "Meghan will send the Queen some gorgeous flowers for her birthday and also get Archie to help her with the card."
The Duchess of Sussex is among many people who have altered their plans to accommodate coronavirus safety precautions. However, if she does not go, it might stir up some dramatic speculation in the press, particularly in the wake of their departure from the United Kingdom.
