Jennifer Lopez And Alex Rodriguez Attend Super Bowl Together Despite Drama
On Feb. 7, 2021, Super Bowl Sunday, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez made their first public appearance since rumors started to fly about Rodriguez being involved with Madison LeCroy, a star from the reality show Southern Charm.
The celebrity couple, who have been together since 2017, took a plane to Florida in order to enjoy their date night watching the big game. Rodriguez posted an Instagram video of him and Lopez walking in front of their plane with their team. "Almost time for the big game! Here are our #SuperBowl predictions!" he wrote in the caption. In the video, Rodriguez asks Lopez for her pick and declares, "We'll get back to you!" after she makes an uncertain noise.
As Elle reported, the former Yankee was seen with his fiancee holding up signs printed with the message "Thank you, healthcare heroes" as they cheered on the teams. In the stadium, 7,500 healthcare workers who had safely received vaccines were able to watch the game in person. The NFL paid for all expenses, as per the outlet, and inauguration poet Amanda Gorman paid tribute to specific key frontline workers in her performance.
For her part, on Instagram, Lopez posted a throwback video and some behind-the-scenes pictures from when she performed at the Super Bowl the previous year. Her 2020 collaboration with fellow Latina pop star Shakira received four Primetime Emmy nominations.
All seems to be copacetic in Lopez and Rodriguez's relationship, but what really went down (or didn't) between him and LeCroy?
Alex Rodriguez has been linked to Southern Charm star Madison LeCroy
Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez may have attended the Super Bowl as a united front to send a message about the state of their marriage. Accusations of cheating have followed Rodriguez since the rumor mill linked the former baseball player with Southern Charm star Madison LeCroy.
LeCroy is a hair and make up artist from Charleston, South Carolin who was propelled into fame by the Bravo reality show, on which she is seen as a "villain," per Screen Rant. During the last season of Southern Charm, an argument about her then-boyfriend Austin Kroll turned into accusations that LeCroy had slept with "a very famous, married ex-MLB player." During a 2021 interview with Page Six, LeCroy denied flying to Miami to meet up with this mystery athlete. "He's never physically cheated on his fiancee with me," she claimed, and declared that "all this stuff was a year ago, but it's being aired now."
In addition to clarifying that she had "never been physical" with Rodriguez, LeCroy insisted that they had never met up in person and have only talked on the phone — and it was never on a consistent basis. "I have tried to be as quiet as possible. I don't want anything bad for his family, or for mine," the reality star explained. "We are definitely innocent in this."
A Rodriguez source told People that the whole situation was "a B.S. story," adding that "Alex has never met her."
How did Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez get together in the first place?
According to Harper's Bazaar, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez first met in 2005 at a baseball game. Rodriguez was married to Cynthia Scurtis at the time, and Lopez was married to Marc Anthony, but later confessed that she felt an instant connection to the New York Yankee.
"We shook hands, and it was this weird electricity for, like, three seconds... Three to five seconds of looking at somebody right in their eyes, and getting stuck," Lopez told Sports Illustrated in 2019. Rodriguez also later revealed that he had owned a signed photo of Lopez since the late '90s, per Harper's Bazaar. Rodriguez and Scurtis split in 2008, and Lopez and Anthony eventually divorced in 2014.
Their paths finally crossed again in 2017 at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Lopez "tapped Rodriguez on the shoulder," and after they had a conversation, he later texted her that they should go out for dinner. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Rodriguez confessed that he wasn't sure if it was a date at the time.
"Maybe we were seeing each other at night because of her work schedule. I went in uneasy, not knowing her situation," he recalled. He also explained why they hit it off so well: "We're both Leos, we're both from New York, we're both Latino... and about 20 other things."
In March 2019, they got engaged during an idyllic Bahamas vacation. Even the Obamas sent their congratulations, as Rodriguez showed on Instagram.
