What Is The Song In The Scotts Miracle-Gro Commercial?
Scotts Miracle-Gro opted to lean into the whole staycationing in your backyard during quarantine vibe for their 2021 Super Bowl ad, all while featuring some of Hollywood's heavy-hitters. Those celebs include "Martha Stewart, John Travolta and his daughter Ella Travolta, The Office's Leslie David Baker, NASCAR driver Kyle Busch, Carl Weathers, and Peloton instructor Emma Lovewell," as reported by People.
The premise of the entire commercial is to give viewers a bird's-eye view into how even the rich and famous utilized their backyards in 2020. And TBH, it's not too much different than the rest of us normal folks. While America's domestic goddess Martha Stewart fought hard to keep her reigning title as best gardener ever, actor Leslie David Baker used his to barbecue, and father-daughter duo John and Ella Travolta passed the time by making TikTok videos.
The company also used the ad to plug the Scotts Miracle-Gro Dream Lawn and Garden Sweepstakes, in which one lucky winner will get the backyard they've always dreamed about, though Stewart carefully pointed out it'd be "like mine, you know, just not better than mine." We see you, Stewart.
But what song does the commercial feature? Keep reading to find out!
TikTok fans will recognize the song in the Scotts Miracle-Gro ad
As reported by AdAge, Scotts Miracle-Gro initially intended to run only a 30-second ad for their first-ever Super Bowl commercial. Eventually, however, the brand, along with VaynerMedia, decided to up the ante and pony up for a 45-second slot instead. No doubt, a costly decision.
According to Today, they also opted to feature the catchy and widely known tune "Sunday Best" by Surfaces at the end of the ad while John Travolta and his daughter Ella Travolta are perfecting their TikTok routine. And if you think their backyard performance looks familiar, that's because it is! As it turns out, the daddy-daughter duo is performing the same number that John and his former co-star Olivia Newton-John made famous in the popular musical, Grease. Talk about a full-circle moment!
The commercial then wraps on a rather funny note, with Leslie David Baker scolding the pair, per People. "Hey Travoltas, don't be tikety-toking on my grass!" he yells. Welcome to the Super Bowl, Scotts Miracle-Gro!
