The Untold Truth Of Bobbi Kristina Brown
Like her iconic mother, Bobbi Kristina Brown made quite an impact on lives all around the world. Even though her journey on earth was short-lived, Bobbi Kristina is remembered for being a beloved singer, television personality, and public figure. She was catapulted into the spotlight from the very moment she was born on March 4, 1993.
Bobbi Kristina was raised in the glitz and glamour of Hollywood by her parents, Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown. The actress started attending red carpet events alongside her famous mom and dad as soon as she could walk, and by the age of 12, she made her on-screen debut in 2005's Being Bobby Brown.
Bobbi Kristina was also a talented singer. She covered various renditions of hit songs, including Adele's "Someone Like You," as well as her mom's iconic tunes, "I'm Your Baby Tonight" and "My Love Is Your Love" (via Bustle). Though Bobbi Kristina never had the opportunity to show off her talents, the reality star's father believes his daughter was more talented than both him and Houston combined. "She was a beautiful young lady. And what she wanted to do with her life, I wish everybody could have seen," Brown emotionally shared with Us Weekly in February 2018. "Music, entertainment. She was better than me. She was better than her mother."
Sadly, Bobbi Kristina endured many struggles that lead up to her tragic death at age 22 in July 2015. Keep scrolling to find out the untold truth of Houston and Brown's late daughter.
Bobbi Kristina Brown's relationship with Nick Gordon was the beginning of the end
Bobbi Kristina Brown and her loved ones were crushed following Whitney Houston's death in February 2012, but the famous family would experience a similar heartbreak when Bobbi Kristina died a little more than three years later in March 2015. Medical examiners initially "classified the manner of death as undetermined," per USA Today, but that would not be the end of the heartbreaking story.
At the time of her death, Bobbi Kristina was romantically involved with her longtime family friend-turned-lover, Nick Gordon. Gordon was raised by Houston and Bobby Brown after moving into their home when Bobbi Kristina was just 12 years old (via Us Weekly). Over the next decade, the pair's whirlwind romance experienced many ups and downs, including lies, deceit, and ultimately, death.
According to Us Weekly, the star and Gordon became closer than ever following Houston's passing. After years of denying their romance, they went public as a couple in the summer of 2012. In a bizarre turn of events, the duo also announced they were married in January 2014. "@nickgordon! #HappilyMarried," she wrote next to a pic sporting their wedding bands. "SO #Inlove. If you didn't get it the first time that is."
Bobbi Kristina and Gordon's marriage claims ended up being untrue, however. Christopher Brown of Brown & Rosen LLC, a lawyer of Bobbi Kristina's father, told Us Weekly that the singer was not and "has never been married to Nick Gordon."
Bobbi Kristina Brown suffered a similar fate as mom Whitney Houston
Bobbi Kristina Brown had gorgeous looks and a singing voice very similar to her mother, and eerily enough, like Whitney Houston, she also experienced a tragic death. In January 2015, she was found facedown in a bathtub by her partner, Nick Gordon, in their Georgia home. Per Us Weekly, Bobbi Kristina was placed in a medically induced coma.
Just five months later — and one month after she was placed in hospice care — Bobbi Kristina died on July 26, 2015. Following her death, her family shared a heartbreaking statement. "She is finally at peace in the arms of God," they said (via Rolling Stone). "We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months."
Gordon was visibly distraught after Bobbi Kristina's death, and he even checked himself into rehab for substance abuse (via TMZ). However, he was ultimately found responsible for her death after an autopsy declared drug toxicity and being submerged in water were the cause of her pneumonia and brain damage. Though no criminal charges were ever filed, he was ordered to pay $36 million to Bobbi Kristina's estate (via CNN).
Nearly three years after Bobbi Kristina's death, Gordon also died at age 30. Per CNN, Florida's Districts 5 & 24 medical examiner's office confirmed he died from a heroin overdose in January 2020.
