Shawn Mendes Reveals Relatable Reason His Life Will Never Be The Same
"I wanna follow where she goes," singer-songwriter and full-time heartthrob Shawn Mendes opens on his 2017 hit single, "There's Nothing Holding Me Back." Fans of Mendes' work, his boyishly handsome good looks, and even his relationship with fellow pop sensation Camila Cabello can now follow, intimately so, the musician himself around the globe. In November 2020, Netflix released a documentary, Shawn Mendes: In Wonder, showcasing the singer's candid moments during a world tour and the making of his December 2020 studio album, Wonder, according to Billboard.
In Wonder, thematically, focuses on the emotional highs and lows Mendes experienced whilst on tour. As Billboard reported, the documentary depicts Mendes having crises of confidence, hence the journal affirmations he writes frequently before performances, like the self-reminder that "I control my brain and my voice. I sing with no tension. My chest voice is strong and healthy." In Wonder also shows the young talent suffering bouts of anxiety which he expresses to girlfriend Cabello and his mother. He revealed in the documentary as he was writing Wonder that "the heaviness of the tour in a lot of ways made me want to flip things around and become more positive." The pop star added that touring taught him to live with anxiety rather than view it as "an enemy that I'm trying to resist."
Kudos to Mendes for making such a positive attitude change, but now he has revealed something perhaps equally as life-changing on his Instagram in a February 2021 post.
Shawn Mendes had his life changed by a TV show
In a muy caliente February 2021 Instagram photo, Shawn Mendes — who appeared soaking wet from his hair to his t-shirt — revealed a huge turning point in his life: Mendes finally watched HBO's hit fantasy series Game of Thrones and he is now a devoted fan. "Random wonder vibes [star emoji]," he captioned the snapshot. "Also, I started watching game of thrones 3 days ago for the first time. Am I very late? Yes. Will my life ever be the same? No." Mendes displayed his level of enthusiasm for the show by adding its popular tagline in his post, "Winter. Is. Coming."
While Mendes may be late to the Game of Thrones party, it is entirely forgivable as the singer has been quite the worker bee the last few years. With four world tours under his belt (in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2019) and three studio albums, the "If I Can't Have You" singer displays a work ethic beyond that some might expect for someone barely of legal drinking age.
Now, with his album Wonder released in December 2020, 95-106 Capital FM asks if Mendes will embark on another promotional tour in 2021, especially given the many restrictions set in place due to the coronavirus pandemic. Whatever the case, at least Mendes has a new TV obsession to tide him over until the pandemic-induced rules ease!
