This Is How Melania Trump Lifts Donald Trump's Spirits
Although Melania Trump did not attend the Inauguration on Jan. 20, 2021 and broke a tradition, she did so to support her husband Donald Trump. She left the White House with him the same way she came in — standing by his side and supporting him every step of the way.
During Donald's presidency, the first phone call he received after every rally was from Melania, according to his former advisor Stephanie Winston Wolkoff. During the phone call, Trump counted on his wife to tell him just how great he did.
"I believe their way of showing affection towards one another is her telling him how wonderful and great he is," Wolkoff said on the Hollywood Life podcast (via the Daily Mail). "She was always his first phone call, always, no matter where she was. And the first thing he'd say was: 'Hey Baby, how'd I do?' Like he wants her approval."
This practice of affection Wolkoff referred to put the words from the former first lady's farewell video into action. In her farewell message, she emphasized the importance of putting others first. "Use every opportunity to show consideration for another person and build good habits into our daily lives," she said. "In all circumstances, I ask every American to be an ambassador of 'Be Best.' To focus on what unites us."
Was Melania Trump always Donald Trump's number one supporter?
When former president Donald Trump's wife Melania Trump found out she was going to be FLOTUS, she reportedly cried in despair, according to New York Magazine. However, the White House rejected these claims that the FLOTUS was unhappy with the results of the 2016 presidential election (per Business Insider).
Stephanie Grisham, communications director for the first lady, said in a statement: "Mrs. Trump supported her husband's decision to run for president and in fact, encouraged him to do so. She was confident he would win and was very happy when he did." While over the phone, Donald and his wife supposedly shared sweet, encouraging words, despite the fact that there were several instances captured where Melania appeared to dodge her husband's attempts at affection (per Glamour).
Although the former first lady called for Americans to unite in her farewell message, there has been much speculation about whether or not the former first lady has plans to divorce Donald now that they have left the White House. But, regardless of what the future holds for them, Melania exited Washington, D.C. by her husband's side, for better or for worse.
