What's The Song In The Jason Alexander Tide Commercial?
As some people anxiously await to see the winner of Super Bowl 2021, others are just pumped for the commercials — including one starring Seinfeld's Jason Alexander. The beloved actor — best known for his role as George Costanza — will appear during Tide's game time commercial to promote their Hygienic Clean Heavy Duty 10x detergent. Although he admitted during an interview with People that he didn't even know who was playing in this year's Super Bowl, he said the role is "a very, very nice pat on the back," adding, "It's kind of like when you're doing a TV show and they give you the best slot in television."
In the commercial, Alexander plays himself, but as a graphic on a teenage boy's sweatshirt. As the hoodie weathers the elements and gets messier, Alexander gives off some silly expressions. "I think there are maybe a dozen expressions in the finished commercial, but I can tell you that there were close to 1,500 photographs taken in that one day," he said of filming the commercial. As for letting go of his inhibitions, he said, "You just have to let your ego go and be silly and say, 'I'm going to make funny faces.'"
However, it was background music that will give Seinfeld fans a sense of nostalgia. Keep scrolling for more details.
The jingle was featured on Seinfeld
Although Jason Alexander's funny (yet appropriate) facial expressions featured in his Tide Super Bowl commercial will have the young ones giggling, it's the background music that is bound to get the Seinfeld fans in the crowd going. The tune is, in fact, the theme song to the 1980s TV show The Greatest American Hero, aka the song on George Costanza's answering machine. The subtle nod to his iconic role was just what the clip needed to have a little something for people of all ages to smile about.
"It's really flattering to be thought of as someone that can satisfy that audience, because it's very large, and there's a lot of competition for who had the best spot that day," he said to People, adding that the commercial is a "great" honor.
We have a feelings Seinfeld's diehard fans can't wait to watch the commercial on game day!
