Wells Adams Addresses Rumors He's Replacing Chris Harrison
Wells Adams has shot down the rumor that he might be the next Bachelor host, saying that current host Chris Harrison "isn't going anywhere." In an interview with People, the Bachelor in Paradise bartender said that the speculation was the "dumbest thing I've ever heard."
"First of all, Chris isn't going anywhere," Adams continued. "He's got the best job in Hollywood. Tom Hanks would agree that he has the best job in Hollywood. He's not going anywhere."
The rumors began after it was revealed that Harrison was building a house in Texas. Adams addressed the host's relocation, saying, "Guess what, everybody? It's a travel show. He can live in Timbuktu and still do the show. They only film a week and a half in Agoura Hills. The rest of the show is off everywhere else." Adams also called Harrison the "cornerstone of Bachelor Nation," and said that he wouldn't wish the task of "trying to fill those shoes" on anybody. "He's not going anywhere nor do I want him to go anywhere," Adams added.
The Bachelorette alumni clarified that he does enjoy coming on the show but in a different role. "I like just being the co-host at these silly athletic dates. That seems more up my alley," he told People.
So how did Adams come to such prominence within Bachelor Nation? It has to do with the fact that his time on the show was unlike anyone else's.
Wells Adams is a beloved member of Bachelor Nation but found love outside of the show
Chris Harrison has hosted The Bachelor and all its various spin-offs since its inception in 2002, according to Screen Rant. He has used the show to promote his romance novel "The Perfect Letter" over the years and even arranged a date around it during an episode that aired on Jan. 18, 2021.
Wells Adams, meanwhile, appeared on Season 11 of The Bachelorette, and Jojo Fletcher kept him in the competition until week 6. He was enormously popular, however, which ensured that he got the call for Season 3 of Bachelor in Paradise, and then became the show's bartender. Adams previously worked as a radio host in Nashville and has a podcast with Brandi Cyrus, sister of pop star Miley.
After his stints on The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise, Adams found love outside of reality television. He is currently engaged to actress Sarah Hyland, who found fame playing Hayley Dunphy on the ABC sitcom Modern Family. As People reported, the couple confirmed their relationship in November 2017. Their wedding was supposed to take place in 2020, but the pair postponed it due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to USA Today.
In any case, Adams seems to be more than comfortable where he is, so don't expect him to take the keys to the Bachelor castle from Chris Harrison any time soon.
