The Real Reason Dr. Fauci Couldn't Appear On Rachel Maddow's Show
Dr. Anthony Fauci is claiming that he couldn't appear on Rachel Maddow's show previously, because former President Donald Trump's team blocked him from doing so. Although America's top infectious disease expert Fauci was apparently blocked from being a guest, he appeared on The Rachel Maddow Show on Jan. 22, 2021 for the first time since the pandemic began (via People).
Dr. Fauci explained, "I've been wanting to come on your show for months and months. You've been asking me to come on your show for months and months. And it's just gotten blocked. Let's call it what it is. It just got blocked because they didn't like the way you handle things and they didn't want me on."
Fauci, who is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, explained to Maddow that Americans would now be getting more information about the coronavirus from the Biden administration. He told the talk show host, "I think you're going to see a lot of transparency. You might not see everybody as often as you want but you're not going to see deliberate holding back of good people when the press asks for them."

Dr. Fauci claimed science was 'distorted' by Trump team
During the same interview where Dr. Anthony Fauci said the Trump White House blocked him from appearing on Rachel Maddow's show, he told Maddow that the Trump administration was a "situation where science was distorted and/or rejected." President Joe Biden's new chief medical adviser on the pandemic claimed the Trump team pressured people to say things that were "just not consistent" with science.
Dr. Fauci has been the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984. He's served every United States president since Ronald Regan, and Fauci is considered America's top infectious disease expert (via CNN). Dr. Fauci was part of the former president's coronavirus task force. He told Maddow he never encountered a U.S. administration that didn't let the science speak.
On The Rachel Maddow Show, Dr. Fauci said, "I've served now this is my seventh administration, Rachel. I've been advising administrations and presidents on both sides of the aisle, Republicans and Democrats, people with different ideologies. And even with differences in ideologies, there never was this real affront on science. So it was an aberrancy that I haven't seen in the almost 40 years that I've been doing this. So it's just one of those things that's just chilling. "
Fauci spoke at a White House briefing on Jan. 21, 2021. The New York Times reported that Fauci said, "it is somewhat of a liberating feeling" to speak freely to the public again.
