The Untold Truth Of Nats Getty
Model and designer Nats Getty has come out as transgender non-binary. The designer shared a statement on Instagram on Jan. 19, 2020 about their identity, saying: "I am transgender, non-binary. I have spent my entire life not in sync with the body I was born with and confined by an outwardly appearance that did not match my mind or soul. It wasn't until recently that I was even comfortable admitting this to myself, once I was able to look inwards and truly reflect on my authentic self," as per ET.
Getty went on to explain their decision to transition, writing, "So I decided to start my physical transition and get top surgery. This surgery is something I have wanted for years and I can't believe I will finally have the chest I have always dreamed of."
Getty, who is married to YouTube star Gigi Gorgeous, is one of the Getty family heirs. The Getty oil heir founded streetwear clothing brand Strike Oil in 2019. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Strike Oil is a lifestyle brand "designed to be a positive platform for the LGBTQ community."

Nats Getty and Gigi Gorgeous' love story is so romantic
Nats Getty and YouTube star Gigi Gorgeous have a super sweet relationship. According to Heavy, "Gigi says that Nats is the love of her life, while Nats describes [theirself] as Gigi's biggest fan."
Gorgeous became internationally famous while documenting her gender transition (via Town & Country).Gorgeous has 2.8 million YouTube subscribers and 2.1 million Instagram followers and launched a genderless make-up line on IPSY in 2019.
The couple dated for two years before Getty proposed to Gorgeous in Paris in 2018 in an extraordinary way, complete with fireworks! They got married in July 2019 in Montecito, California. Town & Country described the wedding, "220 formally clad guests gathered on the manicured lawn of the Rosewood Miramar Beach Hotel, which overlooks the Santa Barbara Channel."
The couple is active in the LGBTQ+ community, working with GLAAD and the Los Angeles LGBT Center, as per T&C. After coming out as transgender and non-binary, Getty acknowledged that many people cannot transition due to the steep costs involved. Out reported that the designer said, "While I feel so blessed to be able to start my transition surrounded by love and support, it's not lost on me the many people who are having to navigate this alone and in silence."
Nats Getty is beating the 'Getty curse'
As the great-grandchild of J. Paul Getty and one of the heirs to the Getty family fortune, it's easy to assume that the Nats Getty's life has been a (relative) breeze. The young designer is the great-grandchild of American oil billionaire J. Paul Getty, as well as Governor of California Gavin Newsom's godchild. But the Getty family has suffered more than its share of dysfunction and has endured many tragedies. Page Six reported on the "Getty family curse" after the Nov. 20, 2020 death of John Gilbert Getty at age 52. (He died just two months after his mother, and years after his brother.)
In 1973, family patriarch J. Paul Getty was the richest man in America. But he refused to pay the ransom after his teenage grandson Paul Getty III was kidnapped, as per Vanity Fair. Only after the kidnappers cut off his grandson's ear did the billionaire finally pay part of the ransom. A 2017 film about the kidnapping All the Money in the World brought new attention to the "Getty curse" (via Vanity Fair).
Despite the Getty family's tragic background, we're glad to see that Nats is doing well.
