Bella Thorne's Response To The Disturbing Armie Hammer Rumors
While most people were hoping for a fresh start in 2021, this new year has been chock full of scandal for Armie Hammer. In January 2021, his alleged DMs leaked, which certainly raised some eyebrows, to put it mildly. The actor allegedly wrote, "I am 100 per cent a cannibal. I want to eat you," per screenshots obtained by The Sun. In another exchange, one message read, "I need to drink your blood," and another said, "I'm going to be soooo naughty and kinky with you."
One DM that leaked on Twitter read, "You are like the Michael Phelps of f**king," which may not seem like a stand-out comment compared to the other messages filled with cannibalism and rape fantasies. Another alleged DM mentioned assaulting someone while holding a knife, which was followed up with, "You crying and screaming, me standing over you. I felt like a god. I've never felt such power and intensity."
Hammer's ex Courtney Vucekovich told Page Six, "He said to me he wants to break my rib and barbecue and eat it," but she did claim, "If I had a little cut on my hand, he'd like suck it or lick it. That's about as weird as we got." She had no insight on the legitimacy of the infamous DMs, however, she did say, "He likes the idea of skin in his teeth." While Vucekovich believed that Hammer sent those messages, Bella Thorne disagrees, recently defending the actor on social media.
Bella Thorne thinks the Armie Hammer screenshots are fake
It's unclear if and how Bella Thorne and Armie Hammer know each other, but she had the Call Me By My Name star's back in the midst of the alleged DM's and cannibalism speculation. E! News reported that Thorne shared an article about Hammer's alleged indiscretions in her Instagram Story, writing, "I honestly can't believe this..." The actress said, "People are crazy to fake this kinda s**t this poor guy and his kids like leave him and his family alone. No way he's a freaking CANNIBAL...."
She questioned the legitimacy of the screenshots, saying, "Also, there's a million fake screen shots going around." In a statement that he shared with The Hollywood Reporter, Hammer said, "I'm not responding to these bulls**t claims." Nevertheless, the very public allegations are already affecting his career. Hammer was set to star in a movie called Shotgun Wedding opposite Jennifer Lopez, but in the wake of the controversy, that's no longer happening.
Armie Hammer's career hangs in the balance
At this point, no one knows how the DM scandal will affect Armie Hammer's career in the long-term, but his recent exit from the movie Shotgun Wedding isn't the best sign of things to come. He supposedly quit the film on his own accord, telling The Hollywood Reporter, "in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for 4 months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic." He claimed, "Lionsgate is supporting me in this, and I'm grateful to them for that."
A spokesperson from the movie's production told the outlet, "Given the imminent start date of Shotgun Wedding, Armie has requested to step away from the film, and we support him in his decision." It's hard to tell how far that "support" goes, since Lionsgate isn't working with Hammer anytime soon, but he does have Bella Thorne in his corner, although it's not evident if they personally know each other.
