The Untold Truth Of Why Don't We's Corbyn Besson

Why Don't We is back with their new album, The Good Times and The Bad Ones, which dropped Jan. 15, 2021. The five-member band — comprised of Corbyn Besson, Jonah Marais, Daniel Seavey, Jack Avery, and Zach Herron — told People in September 2020 that they took a break from social media for several months, starting in February 2020, to get away from the toxicity and "just focus on writing this music and rest. Marais noted in the People interview that the guys have matured "quite a bit," and are ready for the next and "most exciting era of WDW."

Singer-songwriter Besson, who was raised in Virginia, according to Paper, couldn't contain his excitement on Instagram. "We poured our hearts and souls into every melody and lyric on this album and I hope it's a soundtrack for your good times and a safe place for your bad ones," he wrote. The young star has come a long way in his music career, even though he's just in his early 20s. Besson said he developed a passion for music after stealing his dad's guitar in the seventh grade and teaching himself how to play it, as per Boston.com. He released his first solo single "The Only One" on Dec. 17, 2014 before joining the band in 2016.

Corbyn Besson in a serious relationship with a famous YouTuber

Why Don't We's Corbyn Besson has been dating YouTube star Christina Marie — a.k.a. BeautyChickee — since 2016, according to J-14 (although many fans wonder if they're still together as of 2021, since they haven't posted any updates together in a while). Still, they've tried to keep their relationship away from the spotlight, as the couple rarely shares photos together on social media. In 2017, Marie did address her struggles about dating someone in the public eye. She wrote a long note via Twitter, explaining, "So, here's whats been on my chest: I don't feel like I have my own name as an individual anymore. I have been noticing this for a while, but especially within the past two/three months. I felt that my individuality of me being 'Christina Marie' or 'BeautyChickee" is an image that has been overlooked... due to my relationship."

Marie went on to say that many referred to her only as "Corbyn's girlfriend" and she wanted to make it clear that she's more than that. "My intentions of writing this post and discussing this issue is not to bash on my own boyfriend or our relationship," she continued. "I love my boyfriend with all my heart, he means the absolute world to me. I share our relationship with you all on my social media because, hey, what girl doesn't love showing their relationship off?"

At the time, Besson showed his support for Marie by retweeting her note.

Corbyn Besson underwent surgery in 2018

Corbyn Besson had to undergo emergency surgery in 2018 due to a bad throat infection. The Why Don't We singer shared a tweet on the night of the surgery, explaining that his infection was making it hard to breathe. "Getting a spontaneous surgery tonight, I have a huge swollen infection in my throat that's covering a my airway making it tough to breathe," he wrote. "I'll be in the hospital for a few days so I might be MIA!" At the time, Live Nation Asia notified Billboard that WDW was postponing several concerts in Asia and canceled their Hong Kong show. "Corbyn Besson, a member of the group Why Don't We, underwent emergency surgery four weeks ago due to an infection in his throat," the statement read. "His recovery has been 100 percent, however, his attending surgeon does not want him to leave the country."

A few weeks later, Jonah Marais, Daniel Seavey, Jack Avery, and Zach Herron welcomed Besson back on Instagram after his successful operation, sharing a photo of the band members in the streets of Los Angeles, California, alongside the caption: "corb0ne is back :')" As for Besson's vocals, it doesn't look like the surgery has affected his singing abilities as he and the band embark on the next chapter of their career.
