Inside Jeff Bridges' Lymphoma Update

Big Lebowski star Jeff Bridges is sounding optimistic after being diagnosed with lymphoma. The beloved actor revealed his cancer diagnosis in October 2020, writing on social media, "As the Dude would say.. New S**T has come to light." (ICYMI, that was a callback to the words of his most iconic character, The Dude.) "I have been diagnosed with Lymphoma. Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good. I'm starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery."

From there, Bridges has continued to update his fans on the status of his health. "This cancer thing is bringing on feelings of precociousness & gratitude & good old fashion [sic] love & lots of it, big time," Bridges wrote in a since-removed blog post, per Entertainment Tonight. "I'm feeling so much of it comin' my way, & man I appreciate it. It's contagious, all this love, like some kind of positive virus. I want to acknowledge & thank you guys for reaching out during this time. It feels good, getting all the well wishes & love!" He added, "This cancer is making me appreciate my mortality, appreciate impermanence. I'm realizing if I have s**t to share, now's the time." Then, in December 2020, he continued to be a positive presence on social media, debuting a shaved head and revealing to fans he is "feeling good."

Jeff Bridges' tumor is shrinking 'beautifully'

As Jeff Bridges goes through this time in his life, he's proud to offer his positive outlook to fans, in addition to sharing an improvement in his lymphoma diagnosis. "January 6th [—] I go in for a CAT scan to see if my new protocol is shrinking my tumor. Turns out it's working beautifully," he shared to his website, Jeffbridges.com, on Jan. 13, 2021. "The thing has drastically shrunk. I came home elated with the news."

But the actor's message wasn't all roses. "I turned on the TV to find out what's going on in the world, and ... well ... I don't have to tell you what's going on," he wrote, referring to the Capitol riots. "To see our country attacking itself broke my heart," he added, but to help with the unrest in the world, he shared some of the teachings of his mentor Rozzell Sykes, writing, "His mantra was 'Be love.' Aaaa ... yeah ... that's my path."

Bridges also shared a video of himself strumming a guitar and singing a tune with an uplifting message. He teased the performance on Instagram, where he sports a newly shaven head. Despite all he is going through, it looks like he is doing what he can to ease the unrest in the world with some good news.
