The Truth About Christina Anstead's Powerful New Tattoo
Flip or Flop star Christina Anstead has gone through some massive changes in a short amount of time. In September 2020, she announced that she and her husband of less than two years Ant Anstead were separating. "We are grateful for each other and as always, our children will remain our priority," she wrote on Instagram. "We appreciate your support and ask for privacy for us and our family as we navigate the future."
Ant and Christina dealt with their sudden breakup in very different ways. Ant made it clear he did not want the divorce, writing on Instagram that he prays "Christina's decision brings her happiness." In October 2020, the British TV host shared on his Instagram Story (via House Beautiful) that he had signed up for a five-week "Breakup Recovery" program and encouraged others who were struggling to give it a try, adding that it had been "a lifeline" for him.
On the other hand, Christina seemingly dealt with her new life as a single mom through some retail therapy. She shared a since-deleted photo of a luxurious yacht she purchased in October 2020 called "Aftermath," according to Page Six. She also welcomed a puppy named Biggie into her family in December 2020.
They say all things happen in threes, and it looks like Christina has completed her post-divorce trifecta with yet another purchase — this time in the form of some body art. Let's dive into the truth about Christina Anstead's powerful new tattoo.
Christina Anstead's new tattoo has a deep meaning
Christina Anstead shared a photo of herself holding her blonde hair up with her back turned to the camera on Jan. 12, 2021, to reveal some new ink. The tattoo reads "still I rise," which is a quote from Maya Angelous's poem "Still I Rise." The cursive writing starts at the nape of her neck and moves down vertically, ending between her shoulder blades. Along with the photo, the mom of three wrote more of Angelous's famous words: "Just like moons and like suns, with the certainty of tides, just like hopes springing high, still I'll rise." It is possible that the home renovator is using this quote as a reminder that she can persevere through anything.
Christina previously announced on Instagram that she would be working on a project in 2021 that would allow her to explore herself spiritually as she handles the changes she faced in 2020. "A project I'm working on [in 2021] is going to be exploring this much deeper. Spiritual healing has been my passion for years so I'm looking forward to diving in deep," she wrote. Perhaps, the meaningful tattoo is a part of that self exploration.
Christina's ex-husband and Flip or Flop costar Tarek El Moussa updated US Weekly on Jan. 7, 2021, about how Christina is coping with her split. "She's doing pretty good," he confirmed. "You know, we don't talk too much personal stuff, but based on what I know, she's doing great."
