Here Are The Stars Expected To Perform At The Biden Inauguration

Every four (or eight) years a new president of the United States is sworn in as the leader of the free world, but not without a celebration. From the official swearing-in ceremony to the parade procession to the White House, each president has had their own twist on how they bring in their administration, and it usually involves some star power.

In 2009, ahead of becoming the nation's first black president, Barack Obama had an inaugural celebration at the Lincoln Memorial. Per Bustle, performers and speakers included big name stars like Denzel Washington, Stevie Wonder, Shakira, Usher, Jon Bon Jovi and more. Then, at his formal inauguration, legendary singer Aretha Franklin sang "My Country 'Tis of Thee." After all that was said and done, the Obamas shared their first dance at the inaugural ball while none other than Beyoncé performed Etta James' "At Last." The Lemonade singer returned in 2013 to perform at President Obama's second inauguration.

When the Trump administration had some trouble gathering big names for his campaign in 2016, many wondered who might show up to ring in the new president. The answer? Lee Greenwood, Toby Keith and 3 Doors Down, per The New York Times.

So, who will be joining President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris as they celebrate their new administration?

Jon Bon Jovi will return to the inauguration stage

To bring in the new Biden administration, the Presidential Inaugural Committee announced which stars will lead the celebration on Inauguration Day. Among those expected to perform are Justin Timberlake, Demi Lovato, Jon Bon Jovi and Ant Clemons, according to E! News. The event is titled "Celebrating America" and will be hosted by everyone's favorite, friendly actor Tom Hanks. The president and vice president-elect are expected to make remarks as well.

CEO of the Presidential Inaugural Committee Tony Allen released a statement about the festivities, sharing how the "inauguration presents a unique opportunity to spotlight the resilience and spirit of an America united" (via E! News). The statement also revealed that essential workers that have helped the country throughout the coronavirus pandemic will also be highlighted. "We have witnessed countless heroes this past year step up to the frontlines and serve their fellow Americans, so we are telling their stories, spreading their collective light and celebrating the best of our country and its people with this prime-time program."
