The Truth About Meghan McCain's Rough Return To The View
Meghan McCain's return to The View has been rocky, to say the least, and now, she is speaking out on that not-so-"Joy"-ful moment.
The female-led ABC talk show — co-starring Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, and Joy Behar — got dicey the instant McCain returned from her maternity leave and birth of her first daughter Liberty. The conservative daughter of late Arizona Sen. John McCain and Cindy McCain (as Meghan herself would tell you) has gotten into heated and plain awkward debates over issues like the 2020 election, Georgia's Senator-elect Raphael Warnock, and more. Regularly at odds with her more liberal-leaning co-hosts (well, more often than not), things got especially spicy on Jan. 5, 2021, the second day of McCain's return.
During the show, Behar was in the middle of discussing whether the U.S. should have more than two political parties when McCain interrupted her. "Excuse me, I was speaking!" a visibly jilted Behar responded, which prompted McCain to joke, "You missed me so much, Joy. You missed me so much when I was on maternity leave. ... You missed fighting with me." However, Behar wasn't amused. "I did not ... I did not miss you. Zero," she snapped back. Yeesh. So how does McCain feel about what happened? Meghan McCain said she's had a "rough reentry" to The View
So what does Meghan McCain have to say about her uncomfortable spat with Joy Behar on The View? She spoke up on the Jan. 11, 2021, episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, and she didn't hold back. "So it's been such a rough reentry back into The View," Meghan said. "I mean, I was on maternity leave for three months. I had a really hard birth, actually. I remember texting when I was in the hospital. I had preeclampsia, I had to have a magnesium drip."
She continued, " ... And I will say, I missed everyone. Even if some people didn't miss me, I miss the show. We're a family. All these women were at my dad's funeral, we've been through a lot of s*** together. ... I hope that we can all be examples, myself included ... because whether we like it or not, I'm not going anywhere on the show, Joy's not going anywhere on the show. We all have to live and co-exist together, just like Americans right now."
The host also expressed hope that everyone can "move forward," so we'll see what happens. Your move, Behar.
