Meghan Markle And Prince Harry's Son Makes His Podcast Debut
Ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as working royals in early 2020, they've been busy creating a life for themselves, and son, Archie Harrison. From buying and moving into their own home in Montecito, California and Meghan becoming a first-time investor in a wellness brand that even earned Oprah's endorsement, to opening their own production company and inking deals with Netflix, the Sussexes are venturing out and building their own media empire.
The latest move in their media takeover is podcasting. In early December, Deadline reported that the Sussexes were following in the footsteps of the Obamas and had entered into an exclusive deal with music streaming giant Spotify. As part of their multi-year partnership, the royal couple would produce programming from their company, Archewell Audio. By the end of the month, they followed through on their word, releasing a holiday special in which their son makes his podcast debut. Keep reading to find out what Archie had to say.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's son speaks publicly for the first time
Released on Dec. 29, the first podcast from Archewell Audio on Spotify featured a slew of well-known guests. According to Harper's Bazaar, Stacey Abrams, Elton John, Naomi Osaka, and Tyler Perry were among the famous faces to stop by the studio. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle asked guests to record audio diaries on their reflections about the past year — what they learned, how they stayed connected, and what their hopes are for the future. Still, there was one famous and unexpected guest that stood out from the rest: the couple's 19-month-old son, Archie.
Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor can be heard at the end of the podcast, after Prince Harry and Markle shared a sentiment about a song that was performed at their wedding. "You can speak into it," Prince Harry told Archie while Markle asked him if it was fun to speak into the microphone. "Fun?" Archie asked.
Before signing off the podcast, Prince Harry and Markle assisted Archie in sending a special message to listeners. "Happy New Year," Archie said, with a little help from his parents in the first two words. We cannot wait to hear more from Archie and the Sussexes in 2021, especially considering how adorable Archie sounds when he giggles.
