The Real Reason Martha Stewart And Snoop Dogg Are Banned From The UK
Yes, you read that right! Famous and unlikely best friends Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg have both been banned from entering the United Kingdom. While this may come as a shock to casual Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party viewers, it's not too surprising to those who truly know them, considering their criminal records. In fact, Stewart said that her five-month prison sentence for insider trading in 2004 gave her the "street cred I was lacking" in "Snoop's world," in a 2017 interview with CBS Sunday Morning. As for the "Gin and Juice" artist, he has a long rap sheet, but it's actually Stewart who has spent more time in the slammer.
While dishing on his unique friendship with the professional chef on Watch What Happens Live in 2018, he shared some of Stewart's prison stories with the audience, revealing how her magazine, Martha Stewart Living, was utilized behind bars. "She told me that when she went in there, they told her to put some newspapers on her to protect herself from getting stabbed," Snoop shared. "And she was like, 'Why not use my magazines? They're a little bit thicker!'" Smart thinking! Keep scrolling to see why both of them were banned from the United Kingdom.
Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg were banned for similar reasons
These days, Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg might be partners in crime, but they were riding solo when they were both barred from the United Kingdom. However, their exiles did occur around the same time. In Snoop's case, he was in hot water with the Brits after he was arrested at London's Heathrow Airport in 2006 on charges of violent disorder after he and five others got into an altercation that injured seven police officers, according to the Los Angeles Times. Following the incident, he was denied a visa into the country and had to cancel his U.K. tour. Luckily for Snoop, The Guardian reported that his lawyers appealed the ban and he was finally allowed back in 2010.
As for Stewart, her entrance into the United Kingdom was denied due to her previous criminal conviction, causing her to cancel a 2008 London speaking engagement. At the time, the U.K. Border and Immigration Agency declared that the government does not permit entrance into the country for anyone convicted of "serious criminal offenses abroad," per the Independent. Although there aren't any official reports about Stewart's entrance being reinstated, she blogged about a family trip to London in 2017, so it looks like things must have since been resolved. Now that both of them are on good terms with the U.K., maybe the dynamic duo will plan a trip across the pond.
