90 Day Fiance: Why Jovi's Mom Thinks Yara Is Selfish
90 Day Fiancé returned for Season 8 in December 2020 with its usual combination of romantic promise and relationship drama. The TLC season boasts a combination of familiar faces with couples such as Rebecca and Zied, Mike and Natalie, and Tarik and Hazel, but there are also new relationships.
Among the new arrivals are Stephanie and Ryan, who have hit the ground running with conflict, passion, and speculation about their relationship. In fact, Jovi, who hails from Louisiana, almost ended things with a Ukrainian woman named Yara after they first met on a dating app while Jovi was traveling abroad. Thankfully, things didn't end for the couple, and TLC continued to chronicle their journey. However, that doesn't mean that the rest of their aired time on the reality TV show was peaceful.
In the episode that aired on Dec. 20, 2020, fans watched as Yara joined Jovi in his home state. She met his mother, Gwen, who unfortunately wasn't terribly impressed by Yara. In fact, Gwen went so far as to call Yara 'selfish.' Keep on reading to find out why.
Yara and Gwen disagree about wedding details
When Yara met Jovi's mother, Gwen, during the Dec. 20, 2020 episode of 90 Day Fiancé, there seemed to be disagreements from the get-go. Jovi told Yara that they were invited to spend the night at Gwen's house, and Yara said she wouldn't spend the night because she would be uncomfortable.
Yara finally gave in, and during dinner, Gwen asked about their wedding plans, adding that Jovi's grandma and grandpa "would absolutely love to see" him get married, according to a TLC clip. However, Yara said she didn't want to get married in Louisiana and called it a "wedding for one side," preferring the idea of getting married in Las Vegas. Neither woman was impressed with how the conversation went. Yara felt that Gwen was trying to "control" her and felt that Gwen spoke about the wedding too much, even though she knew that Yara's answer was 'no' to a Louisiana-based celebration. Meanwhile, Gwen was saddened by their plans and called Yara "selfish" for not understanding how important this was to Jovi's family.
Yara and Jov's relationship certainly sounds action-packed and riddled with drama already! So do they stick it out and stay together? It's too soon to say, so stay tuned!
