Summer Walker went to the same high school as these two rappers
The city of Atlanta has proven itself to be an opportunity hub for those interested in music and entertainment. It's safe to say that Atlanta, home to some of the highest-charting musicians in the genres of hip-hop and R&B, produces quality talent. Summer Walker embodies just that. The singer, birth name Summer Marjani Walker, was born April 11, 1996 to a British father and American mother, per HollywoodLife. Considering Walker was born and raised in Atlanta, it's fair to believe that she grew up with some of the city's hottest musicians. Per social media detectives, it turns out Summer Walker attended the same high school as these two Atlanta rappers.
Walker attended North Springs High School in the Fulton County area of Atlanta, per HollywoodLife. In December 2020, a tweet surfaced on social media claiming that Walker attended school with rappers Playboi Carti and Gunna at the same time. The tweet included yearbook photos of Playboi Carti (birth name Jordan Terrell Carter) and Walker in what appears to be the same yearbook.
While it hasn't been confirmed whether Walker crossed paths with the two rappers or not, Gunna confirmed he attended North Springs High School with Playboi Carti before transferring to Langston Hughes High School. In an interview with Mass Appeal, the "Wunna" rapper said he knew Carti from their teenage years. "Yeah, I knew Carti from ... we went to school together," Gunna said. "We ain't really hang, but we just knew each other." How cool is that?
Summer Walker had some pretty interesting jobs in the past
Summer Walker is not new to being on her grind. Before becoming a Billboard-charting R&B artist, the singer had a few interesting job titles in the past. In 2015, the singer worked as a dancer in an Atlanta strip club, per HollywoodLife. At the time, Walker taught herself how to play the guitar from YouTube videos. "[Dancing] helps you get out of your shell... it's fun," the "I'll Kill You" singer told The Face in 2019. "After [the release of Over It], I'm just gonna get a pole installed in my house ... when this is all over." In 2017, Walker went the entrepreneurial route and started her own cleaning business. Her business Instagram, @summersoclean, consists of photos and videos of the singer posing with cleaning products and yellow rubber gloves.
No matter how successful Walker gets, she's not afraid to reminisce on her humble beginnings. In a now-deleted thank you post from January 2020, she looked back on her journey from Atlanta to our playlists. "Beyond Blessed. My whole life changed in a year & a half, like literally year ago I was scrubbing toilets and stripping," she wrote on Instagram (via HollywoodLife). "I'm now damn near financially free with a paid off house & car with out a care in the world, and it's all cause of y'all so thank you."
