RHOP: The Truth About Karen Huger's Husband, Ray
Karen Huger is known as "The Grand Dame" on The Real Housewives of Potomac. Since Season 1, she's had no issue boasting her lavish lifestyle and desire for nothing but the best. With her being such a larger-than-life personality, fans have enjoyed watching the dynamic she has with her quiet, well-mannered husband, Ray Huger, whom she refers to as "The Black Bill Gates."
However, fans have watched the growing tension between the couple following a string of financial woes. It all started in Season 3 when Karen announced that she and Ray were selling their home to downsize to a home located outside of Potomac. But, it was very hard for the other housewives to believe, considering her proud reign as the city's "Grand Dame."
Soon after, the Washington Post released a report revealing that Ray owed millions of dollars in taxes. Once the word was out, Gizelle Bryant wasted no time in shading Karen about her money matters. According to Karen, though, she "was in shock" when she learned how much money her husband owed, but followed his orders in letting him handle it. "Ray's a phenomenal human being," she told Bravo's Daily Dish. "I could say it scared me. But he assured me that everything was going to be OK, as long as I stayed in my lane. And that's what he meant, too. Let him handle it. It's his business."
Ray Huger 'thinks' he's in love with Karen Huger
By Season 5, fans watched as Karen and Ray Huger struggled to bring back the intimacy in their relationship. While Karen worked to serenade and romance her husband after becoming the breadwinner in the marriage, Ray found it difficult to tell her how much he loved her. According to what the businessman said in their couple's therapy session, he wanted more attention and for her to cook more. He also said "I think I am" when asked if he was in love with his wife. Ouch!
When discussing the change in their onscreen dynamic in Season 5 in comparison to earlier seasons, Karen said the couple was "raw this season" while speaking with Bravo's Daily Dish. She even shared that things got so tense between them, she "didn't know where we were gonna go."
No matter what, they've remained a team with a solid union. In September 2020, they celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary. "Happy anniversary to us," she captioned a photo of the two. "24 years and counting," she added. The Grand Dame and Black Bill Gates are still going strong.
