Taylor Swift Gives Fans A Sneak Peek Of A Re-Recorded Song
It's the season of giving, and Taylor Swift certainly seems to be in a giving mood when it comes to her fans. In November 2020, Swift confirmed to her loyal fanbase that she had started re-recording her first six studio albums after originally announcing her plans in a 2019 Good Morning America interview. Swifties were counting down the days until this new adventure began for Swift, and having proof had them celebrating. Swift's time in the recording studio has been just as much an adventure for her fans, who are picking up any clues they can find that might signal which album she is currently recording.
Since the announcement, the songstress has reminded Swifties of her hard work, while also thanking them for their constant support. Upon accepting her 2020 American Music Award for Artist of the Year, she said, "You guys have been beyond wonderful all the years of my career but especially this one when we've been so far apart ..." She continued, "The reason I'm not there tonight is I'm actually re-recording all of my old music in the studio where we originally recorded it." This announcement, though not new information, drew a huge applause from the small crowd present at the show.
Swift then surprised fans with folklore: the long pond studio sessions, a documentary that takes a look at the making of Swift's folklore album. Just one week after that announcement, Swift gave fans yet another present: a sneak peek of a re-recorded song.
Taylor Swift shared a new re-recorded song in a commercial
On Dec. 2, 2020, Taylor Swift announced via social media that a part of the newly re-recorded version of "Love Story" — the 2008 single that is regarded as a T. Swift classic — is in her friend Ryan Reynolds' Match commercial. "Okay so while my new re-records are NOT done, my friend @VancityReynolds asked me if he could use a snippet of one for a LOLsome commercial he wrote so...here's a sneak peak of Love Story!, she wrote on Twitter. "Working hard to get the music to you soon!!" The video features Satan hilariously falling in love with the year 2020 — the exact opposite of what most people have done thanks to the coronavirus pandemic.
On Nov. 25, 2020, Swift returned to Good Morning America for an interview, where she shared that "Love Story" was her favorite song to re-record thus far. "I think it's been the most fun doing 'Love Story' because the older music, my voice was so teenaged and I sometimes, when I hear my older music and my older young teenage voice, it makes me feel like I'm a different singer now," she explained. "And so it's been the most fun to re-record ones that I feel like I could actually possibly improve upon the song."
As of this writing, there is no known time frame for when Swift plans to be done with her re-records, but it's safe to say that fans are "Ready for It."
