Cheryl Burke Thinks These Celebs Should Be Banned From DWTS
After nearly three months of trials and tribulations on the dance floor — which included a couple injuries, but also a perfect score from the judges — Kaitlyn Bristowe and Artem Chigvintsev won Season 29 of Dancing with the Stars. While they were both elated for their win, which marked Artem's first Mirrorball Trophy, many DWTS fans were furious about the results. Fans took to Twitter to express their feelings of disbelief, saying Nev Schulman and his partner Jenna Johnson were clearly more deserving of the trophy.
While Nev was well aware of the upset, he seemed to take his loss well. Shortly after the results were announced, he shared a hilarious video on Instagram of him and Kaitlyn shooting some friendly jabs at each other about their time on the reality competition show. However, not everyone has forgotten the night that caused so much drama on the internet.
In fact, pro dancer Cheryl Burke — who was sent home with partner AJ McLean a week before the Season 29 semifinals — has been quite outspoken about what goes on behind the scenes of DWTS, as one point saying the judging needs to be more consistent (per Entertainment Tonight). Now, she has shared a theory that includes not inviting certain stars onto the show. Keeping reading to find out what celebs Cheryl thinks should be banned from DWTS.
Cheryl Burke says there's a certain franchise that's favored on 'DWTS'
Kaitlyn Bristowe is now the second former Bachelorette in a row to win the coveted Mirrorball Trophy, following 2019's Bachelorette Hannah Brown's Season 28 win with partner Alan Bersten. Even Kaitlyn was shocked by her victory, telling Variety that "supportive" Bachelor Nation, along with Artem Chigvinstev and Nikki Bella's "loyal fans," helped the dancing duo get to the top. "I honestly was like, 'Are they really going to let two Bachelorettes win?'" Bristowe asked.
That's exactly what Cheryl Burke asked too, and according to her, ABC should refrain from casting another person from Bachelor Nation for the next season of Dancing with the Stars. On the "The Mirror Ball We Didn't Win" episode of her Pretty Messed Up podcast with AJ McLean and René Elizondo Jr., Cheryl admitted to pulling DWTS producers aside about not casting anyone from The Bachelorette, which she says will also help avoid a conspiracy theory that the show only allows ABC-grown talent to win (per Cheat Sheet). AJ agreed, saying, "This is all about America. It's all about the audience voting." Regardless, the former dancing pair is excited for Kaitlyn and Artem's win.
Considering Bachelorette fans have a long time before finding out who the show's next leading lady will be, it is impossible to predict if DWTS producers will follow Cheryl's advice. Maybe instead of casting a Bachelorette, they will flip the script by casting a Bachelor. Only time will tell.
