The Bachelorette: How Fans Reacted To Demar Mentioning Tayshia's Ex
During The Bachelorette's group date, the guys had to write original songs about Tayshia Adams and perform them in front of her (and each other). Demar Jackson called his song "Mocha Latte," but it was not the caffeine references that stood out to the fandom. At one point, he sang, "I was put here to brighten up your day, grown man, no JPJ." That JPJ mention was a reference to John Paul Jones, who Tayshia started dating while filming Bachelor in Paradise in 2019. Tayshia responded with a demure expression of shock, but Twitter had a lot more to say about the shout out.
One fan remarked, "Wow the JPJ reference. Bold." The word "bold" is certainly one way to describe the move. Someone else hit the caps lock key, tweeting, "THE JPJ DISS!!!! HOLY S**T" along with a GIF of JPJ telling fellow contestant Derek Peth, "Don't insult my intelligence" — a classic moment in BIP history. Some viewers were happy that some of Tayshia's pre-Bachelorette journey was finally mentioned (aside from her divorce). However, there were plenty of JPJ fans who were offended by the mention.
John Paul Jones fans were annoyed by Demar Jackson's song
When Demar Jackson sang to Tayshia Adams about her Bachelor in Paradise ex, John Paul Jones, viewers shared some strong reactions on social media. One person dissed Demar right back, tweeting, "Mocha Latte. . . Finally someone mentions JPJ – but what's his name?" Well, more people know Demar now. That's a plus — sort of.
A JPJ supporter tweeted, "There will be NO JPJ slander on the TL. Damar, tread lightly." Surely he could have said much worse in terms of reality TV shade. Other viewers were not completely offended by it, with one person writing, "Okay that was cute but he didn't have to come for JPJ like that." A different viewer was living for the JPJ content, posting, "A JPJ REFERENCE WE LOVE TO SEE IT."
Someone else said, "How dare he drag my king JPJ like that." But, in all honestly, it was probably just an easy rhyme from someone who is not used to writing songs. However, one thing is clear: Bachelor Nation adores John Paul Jones.
