The Truth About Lil Nas X And James Charles' Relationship
It was a collab of two superstars from two different realms and wowza, did it ever work. Beauty YouTuber from heaven James Charles welcomed none other than Lil Nas X, the pop-country god who gave us "Old Town Road" and won song of the year at the 2019 VMAs, onto his channel.
In a video published to YouTube on Nov. 17, 2020, James sat down with Lil Nas X to talk about the singer's new song, "Holiday." Plus, James gave Lil Nas X a killer (and very on-brand) look, complete with chrome eyeshadow. Just check out the music video for "Holiday" — there was chrome for days.
The two artists also talked about Lil Nas X's rise to fame and how he came out as gay. Lil Nas X was candid about his coming out, explaining, "It was scary as hell, not knowing what was on the other side."
"It was just, like, a feeling," Lil Nas X went on. "I was already feeling so f**king free, just with everything happening. I was like, f**k it." Fans couldn't get enough of the social media phenoms and people are already shipping the duo, big time. Lil Nas X, however, has since spoken out with a comment of his own.
Lil Nas X addressed the chatter about him and James Charles
Lil Nas X's appearance on James Charles' YouTube channel was an immediate smash; within 24 hours, the 14-minute video had racked up nearly 5 million views. The duo talked about life and Lil Nas X's coming out while James gave him an epic makeup look. The two had natural chemistry, and people were all about it. It wasn't long before fans were shipping the two.
One person commented on Twitter, "I said it once and I'll say it again! @jamescharles and @LilNasX a ship!" People were about it on YouTube, too, with one person commenting on the video, "Imagine in a month finding out Nas and James are dating. We can only dream lol..."
However, as BuzzFeed pointed out, it wasn't long before some of the comments online took it too far and got really sexual. In fact, Pop Crave posted about the video on Twitter and the comments got so NSFW that Lil Nas X had to comment on the link. "2 gay men can do things together without y'all sexualizing it," he tweeted.
Yes, Lil Nas X! Way to remind everyone to stay respectful. If they dated, we'd be here for it, but friendship is just as golden.
