Why You Won't See Paul And Karine On 90 Day Fiance Anymore
Paul Staehle and Karine Martins met in a pretty unconventional way. Like many modern couples, they met online, but unlike most people you know, they had camera crews following them around. Paul met Karine via an online dating site when he lived in the United States, and she lived in Brazil. Soon enough, they joined the cast of 90 Day Fiancé and tied the knot. Not long after, Karine and Paul welcomed their first child, a little boy named Pierre, and that's where the trouble started.
In one of the most cringe-worthy fights we've ever seen between 90 Day Fiancé stars, Paul caught Karine texting a divorce lawyer and asking about international custody laws. Paul went a bit crazy and documented the whole thing via a since-deleted Instagram Story. "You're not taking my son out of the country," he reportedly screamed in the video, per In Touch. "If I have to, I'll release him to a judge," Paul continued. Paul was concerned that Karine would take Pierre and flee to her native Brazil, where Paul is not a citizen, and his parental rights would be limited.
The next thing fans knew, Paul and Karine had dueling restraining orders against each other, Karine was pregnant with baby number two, and the couple failed to show up to the 90 Day Fiancé tell-all in 2020. Well, in November, Paul finally spoke out about the situation with Karine and why they won't be back on TLC anytime soon.
Paul Staehle and Karine Martins are taking time for family
After taking a hiatus from reality TV and social media, 90 Day Fiancé's Paul Staehle finally broke his silence in November 2020. He offered some long-awaited insight into his tumultuous relationship with his wife, Karine Martins. Paul took to Instagram to clarify some of the rumors. Namely that something nefarious was going on with Karine, who hadn't posted on social media since June 2020, and that they had been fired from TLC.
"We were not fired or reprimanded. We were given time to deal with our family matters privately. Our payments and income was not affected," Paul reportedly wrote (via In Touch). "We highly appreciate them giving us time to deal with our private matters off camera," he continued. "We are hopeful and eager to possibly return in the future in a more positive time in our growing family's lives."
As for Karine's mysterious absence, Paul addressed that, too. "Karine is refraining from social media because of the extreme negativity," he said. Paul told fans that everything was good financially and that he and Karine planned on scheduling press interviews soon. However, they are currently staying in a rural area of Brazil, where the internet connection is not strong enough for video conferences, so the interviews will have to wait. What lies ahead for the couple now that they have returned to Karine's home country? Only time will tell!
