How Miranda Lambert Is Making History At The 2020 CMA Awards
County darling Miranda Lambert is making history at the 2020 CMA Awards thanks to her seven nominations, placing her as the most-nominated female artist in CMA history. Can we get a "yas queen" for this southern powerhouse! Lambert is also the front-runner for the biggest award of the evening, Entertainer of the Year, alongside Carrie Underwood. The ladies are the first two female solo artists to be nominated for the prestigious honor since 1979.
In addition to Lambert's several nominations, she is stunned to be in the company of the American Idol winner-turned-country sensation. "That's pretty incredible and it's also very humbling to be the other one next to Carrie Underwood," the "Little Red Wagon" singer said to Entertainment Tonight. "She's a force and I've always been a huge supporter and believer, and [I] was very vocal last year about how I thought she should take it home. So, if she does this year, I'll be the first one out of my seat." Keep scrolling for more details about how Lambert feels about being one of the most decorated female artists in CMA history.
Miranda Lambert is overwhelmed by her own success
Miranda Lambert has worked tirelessly to rise on the charts, but even she thinks it's "pretty crazy" that she may be the next winner of one of the highest honors in country music. "It means my life's work," she told Entertainment Tonight. "It's literally what I've chosen to do with my whole life, and having that validation that your peers believe in what you're doing and the people in the industry believe in what you're doing and vote for you all these times and all these years, it means the world to me."
Although she has her fingers crossed for a few wins, Lambert is also scheduled to perform her single, "Settling Down," at Nashville's Music City Center. Her song is about husband Brendan McLoughlin, whom she wed almost two years ago. "I just feel like it kinda embraces the feeling we all have of when you first fall in love, when you first really find your person," she told the outlet, adding it that "encompasses everything" she's been feeling during this tumultuous year. "And now being the time that it is in 2020, everyone is sort of being forced into domesticated worlds and haven't been on the road for all this time," Lambert explained. "I think this song is very, very timely and has a great sentiment for that." Between performing her meaningful tune and being up for some major awards, the 2020 CMAs will definitely be a show Miranda Lambert will never forget.
