Chanel West Coast Describes How Rob Dyrdek Really Is Off Camera
If you watch MTV, then you likely know MTV personality Chanel West Coast. Her bubbly personality and distinctive laugh have made the rapper a household name thanks to the channel's popular show, Ridiculousness, which she co-hosts with former pro skateboarder Rob Dyrdek and TV personality Sterling "Steelo" Brim.
It was actually Dyrdek who gave West Coast her big break. According to InTouch Weekly, after the two "met through mutual friends in 2008," Dyrdek hired West Coast as his receptionist on another one of his MTV reality shows, Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory. Fans loved West Coast on the show and apparently so did Dyrdek. So much so, that he then casted her again for Ridiculousness, where Dyrdek, West Coast and Brim make fun of over-the-top videos found on the internet.
The trio seem to have a blast together on the show, so it's not surprising that they are friends in real life. When asked about being apart in 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic, West Coast told InTouch Weekly, "I'm close with the guys, we're kind of like family, so I've talked to them." She added, "We've been updating each other on like, 'Hey, maybe we'll be seeing each other next week!' Maybe we won't."
But what's it really like when West Coast sees the former Rob & Big star off camera?
Chanel West Coast says Rob Dyrdek is 'more chill' off camera
Rapper Chanel West Coast isn't afraid to dish on what her boss and Ridiculousness co-star Rob Dyrdek is really like when they aren't filming their popular MTV show. The former Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood star told People TV that Dyrdek, "is the funniest guy ever, but when the cameras aren't on he's a lot more chill." She elaborated, "He's really hyper and really energetic when we're filming. It's almost like the camera turns on and, like, that side of him turns on, but then he's a lot more chill and refined when the cameras aren't on."
And that wasn't the only time West Coast touched on Dyrdek's laid-back side. In July 2020, while discussing how the Ridiculousness cast was handling being in quarantine amid the coronavirus pandemic, she told InTouch Weekly, "Rob's the type of person who loves to be at home, so he doesn't mind being stuck at home during a pandemic because he's kind of a homebody." She added, "He lives in a mansion with the cutest family. So he's super happy." FYI: Dyrdek is married to model Bryiana Noelle Flores, with whom he shares two children.
So while Dyrdek may be super animated on his MTV shows, according to West Coast he saves that side of himself for his fans!
