Ant Anstead Throws Subtle Jab At Christina Amid Show Departure
On Nov. 3, 2020, TMZ was the first to report that Christina Anstead officially filed for divorce from Ant Anstead following news of the couple's split in September 2020. Christina announced the news via Instagram, writing, "Ant and I have made the difficult decision to separate. We are grateful for each other and as always, our children will remain our priority. We appreciate your support and ask for privacy for us and our family as we navigate the future." Together, the pair shares 1-year-old son, Hudson.
Christina and Ant had been married for less than two years after getting hitched at their home in Newport Beach, Calif., in December 2018. Ant, host of the car show Wheeler Dealers, and the Flip or Flop star, began dating in October 2017. According to Us Weekly, the two gave their followers hints that they had coupled up through a series of social media posts. Following the news of the couple's split, however, Ant announced that he was also "splitting up" with his TV show Wheeler Dealers. This news prompted Ant Anstead to make a little quip about his failed marriage to Christina Anstead.
Ant Anstead equated quitting Wheeler Dealers to ending his marriage
Ant Anstead's announcement that he was leaving Wheeler Dealers came as a surprise to the show's fans. In an Instagram post, Ant explained that his decision was because the show would be heading back to the UK for its next season, and his "home" is in California. He apparently will not be out of work for long, however, as he revealed that he was working on three new shows.
Following his Instagram announcement, Ant hopped on a Zoom chat (posted later to YouTube) with his Wheeler Dealers co-star Mike Brewer and his replacement, Formula One mechanic Marc "Elvis" Priestley. During the chat, Brewer said to Ant, "For me, I'm sad because you and I have got an amazing bromance. People are gonna say 'Brewer can't hold onto these mechanics' and all this nonsense." Ant jokingly responded to Brewer: "People say that about me and my wives," in an apparent reference to his recent split from Christina, as well as his divorce from first wife Louise Herbert (per Page Six).
The TV host shared on social media, per Entertainment Tonight, that he's in the middle of a five-week program called "The Breakup Recovery Recipe" to help people who are hurting to heal. It teaches newly-single people to "grieve your relationship so you can let it go" and "regain your identity." It is good to see that Ant can make light of his split from Christina Anstead, as humor can help get people through many tough times.
