Why Don From Black Ink Crew Kept His Baby A Secret
Don Brumfield has been entwined in the some of the biggest cheating scandals on Black Ink Crew: Chicago. Since season one of the hit VH1 spin-off series, fans have watched Don get confronted by his wife Ashley Pickens over his adulterous behavior when she's not around. After causing a catfight in the tattoo shop over his hookup with shop employee Charmaine Bey, Ashley and Don ended the premiere season on bad terms after he was caught cheating on Snapchat.
Season two followed the couple as Ashley confronts Don about conceiving a child with his former mistress, Whitney. While Don attempted to ignore the responsibility he created with Whitney, she proceeded to put him on blast on social media with photos showing how much her daughter Kinsleigh looked like the reality star. "A man not honoring his child is not a man in fact he is a boy better yet a damn clown," read an April 2015 note that Whitney shared to her Instagram page. "Shout out to all the [deadbeats]," she added.
Ashley Pickens confronted Don Brumfield about his secret child
Whitney's shame campaign against Don Brumfield continued into late 2015. In November 2015, Whitney posted up a side-by-side photo of her daughter Kinsleigh and the Black Ink Crew: Chicago star and called him out for not owning up to being her father. "Hey clown," Whitney captioned the pic while tagging Don. "You do have a daughter too! Acknowledge her what's so hard about that?" she asked.
In 2016, cameras followed as Ashley Pickens confronted Don about his secret child. Later in the season, fans watched as Don argued with Whitney outside of the 9 Mag tattoo shop and finally met his daughter. Following some back-and-forth, the two were able to come together like adults and work out a co-parenting relationship for Kinsleigh.
But, by the end of 2017, Don Brumfield posted a since-deleted Instagram post apologizing to Ashley and their two children for "embarrassing them" with yet another cheating scandal. At the time, Ashley had removed his last name from her social media and took a hiatus from posting new content, BET News reports. A trailer for season four revealed a confrontation Ashley had with a new mistress who claimed to be pregnant by Don.
