The Real Reason Kathryn Dennis Moved Back In With Thomas Ravenel
The Bravo reality show Southern Charm serves up quite a bit of relationship drama. Still, no one can hold a candle to the trials and tribulations that Kathryn Dennis and Thomas Ravenel have endured. Kathryn made her debut on Season 1 of Southern Charm but didn't become a full cast member until Season 2, when the volatile couple first got together.
In 2014, after less than one year of dating, Kathryn gave birth to their first child, daughter Kensington Calhoun Ravenel, after being forced by Thomas to hide her pregnancy, per People. In Season 3, they welcomed their son Saint Julien Rembert Ravenel, per Bravo, who was born in 2015. Bravo revealed that the couple called it quits in 2016, and their custody battle became a main storyline during Southern Charm's fourth season. Us Weekly reported that while Thomas was awarded custody in 2017, Kathryn gained 50/50 custody of the children in 2018. According to the outlet, Thomas was charged with sexual assault and battery of their children's former nanny, and as a result, Kathryn filed for custody of the kids. In 2019, per Us Weekly, a judge ruled that the couple would share joint custody of the children.
Their relationship has been one rocky road fraught with accusations of drug use, bad parenting, lawsuits, and issues with significant others, court documents revealed (via Us Weekly). Taking all of that into consideration, it was more than surprising to learn that Kathryn Dennis had moved back in with Thomas Ravenel. Keep reading to find out what's up with that shocking news.
It's only a temporary thing for Kathryn Dennis and Thomas Ravenel
Southern Charm viewers were floored to see Thomas Ravenel appear on the Season 8 premiere of the show. He quit (or was fired) following his 2018 arrest. It turns out Kathryn Dennis is currently living in Thomas' house while her house is under construction. My, how far they've come! Kathryn explained in the premiere, per People, "I have actually been staying with Thomas. He's allowed me to use his master bedroom. And no, we are not back together." We're glad that she made that last clarification because that would have been one heck of a shocker. She added, "Thomas and I are actually getting along. I'm just praying it sticks."
In one scene during the episode, Thomas said to Kathryn, "I think [Kensie] likes it when the two of us are together. It's nice, you know, to have you here. But are we misleading them, like it's always going to be this way?" He has a point. With the children being so young, it is probably difficult for them to grasp that this is only a temporary situation. Ravenel went on to say, "I know we've had a rough patch these past couple of years. But ultimately it takes two to raise kids and I can tell they're happy. I feel like we are doing a good job." It seems as if Thomas Ravenel and Kathryn Dennis may have finally turned a corner in their co-parenting relationship. We're hoping that it sticks, too, Kathryn.
