The Real Reason Kanye Is Missing From Kim Kardashian's 40th Birthday Photos
Kim Kardashian celebrated her 40th birthday in style, as one might expect. It was all documented on Instagram, too. To start off the festivities, her sisters threw her a party in California that recreated all of her important birthdays, and then, Kardashian took all of her friends on a trip. Her husband, Kanye West, seems to have attended the first party, but he's nowhere to be seen in any of the pics of the second half of the birthday celebration, causing some to wonder if everything is okay with the presidential candidate.
It seemed like a really good party, to say the least. Kardashian explained the first massive party her sisters threw her via Instagram. "They re-created all of my special birthdays throughout my life from looking at all of our old home videos. They re-created the party, The same balloons, the same cake, everything! My dad video taped and documented our whole lives so they showed each of the videos of my birthdays on a big screen behind the party." She added, "After a while the curtains opened and the bottle service girls came out which happened to be my sisters and they re-created Tao night club, where I spent all of my 30s having my birthday parties. Each and every detail that went into this was so special and I am forever grateful to my family for taking the time to put this together to celebrate me turning 40."
Things got even more lavish. Check it out.
Kanye West found a way to celebrate with Kim Kardashian
The party Kim Kardashian's sisters threw her for her 40th birthday was lavish, and that could be hard to top. Luckily, Kardashian is a pro at outdoing herself, which is why she took all of her friends to a private island where they spent the week partying together. Per TMZ, mom Kris Jenner, brother Rob, and sisters Khloé, Kourtney, and Kendall came along, as well as La La Anthony, Corey Gamble, Devin Booker, Tristan Thompson, Scott and Mason Disick. Page Six noted that Chris Appleton and Tracy Romulus were also photographed at the celebration. Kardashian's husband, Kanye West, was reportedly not on the island for the first couple of days but flew down towards the end of the trip, according to a Page Six source. So even though he's not in the pictures, he was able to ring in Kim's 40th with her in some way.
Kim wrote on Instagram, "For my birthday this year, I couldn't think of a better way to spend it than with some of the people who have helped shaped me into the woman I am today." She added, "We danced, rode bikes, swam near whales, kayaked, watched a movie on the beach."
There was no way that Kanye was not going to be a part of that.
People think Kim Kardashian's birthday was tone deaf
While the birthday party and her trip to a private island looks like fun, some people were upset that Kim Kardashian was gathering people together during the coronavirus pandemic. For her part, she reportedly found an island that had no known COVID-19 cases and made all of her friends get tested before traveling. She discussed her party precautions on Instagram: "After 2 weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time." The reality star added, "...I realize that for most people, this is something that is so far out of reach right now, so in moments like these, I am humbly reminded of how privileged my life is."
Humble or not, some people weren't having any of it, and her birthday pics became an instant meme. "Kim, there [are] people that are dying," one person tweeted, referencing an iconic line from Keeping Up With The Kardashians line. Another zoomed in on a pic and found a picture of a waiter, who was, in fact, wearing a mask. "Mask up, poors!" the person tweeted. (Some of the jokes were admittedly top-notch.)
Kanye West is busy running for president
It makes sense that Kanye West couldn't attend wife Kim Kardashian's entire, multi-day, multi-location birthday bash. He is currently running for president of the United States which is a little more important than the, um, potential first lady's 40th birthday trip, right?
Kanye is running as an independent and created his own party called...wait for it...the Birthday Party. To be honest, some people are worried that he might have a shot. An expert told Variety, "He absolutely could make a difference. In elections, there are a lot of factors — the weather and how the local sports team performed. If there were less at stake or the result seemed inevitable, then you might see people support Kanye as a protest vote."
Kardashian has encouraged her 190 million Instagram followers to vote, though she didn't specify a candidate. Kanye is only on the ballot in 11 states, so it's unlikely that he will win, but he's apparently working hard to make it happen — even if it meant missing his wife's birthday trip.
